You are welcome, hisangelbaby.. from what i have heard others the rebound pain goes away and the level of pain is more tolerable and by then the celebrex will start working, be positive that you will pull thorough this, .... take a long hot bath with epsom salts, it will relieve your muscles...
Oh also I have to add for about six months now I was taking up to 20 pills a day of different OTC pain meds to try to help my body and when the hospital gave me Vic I started thinking maybe I could help my kidney and liver if I took those instead since I was only taking 1-2 a day which is what sent me on my quest to buy pills and I find myself counting them and always making sure I have enough to last payday to payday and I freak out if running low. Hence how I know I am a addict.I am very grateful to have this forum to turn to for help and Ty guys so much for dealing with my rambling and whining :)
Ty so much! I also have degenerated disk disease,a herniated bulging disk, torn shoulder that won't heal, fibromyalgia, and a dieses that attacks you nerves and muscles. Yes pretty screwed pain wise :( so far I have been on celebrex for 4 days but am not getting any relief but I read sometimes it takes a week or two to start working. I stayed off all pills today except the celebrex. I pretty much slept all day and the pain I feel in my legs everyday is sooooo bad it hurts to even move them. I am so scared about having to take more opiates and about the rebound pain which is why I really want to quit. I will admit though with my ADHD I love the hyper feeling and high the pills give me and I get so much done in my house, I do however hurt so bad later that it makes me throw up from pain. I will definitely try the receipe and hey might even help with my medical conditions. If I get myself off of the opiates and Drs put me back on them is it going to make things worse for me?
I initially took celebrex a few years ago for degenerative disc disease. I was totally clean in AA/NA and wasn't on opiates. Celebrex seemed to do me well. The only warning was "don't use NSADs if on blood thinners". So, of course I had to start up on blood thinners after a TIA. That was the end of Celebrex for me. Later my back got worse when I herniated one of the bad discs. Then I was started up on Vicodin 7.5s by my doctor, which eventually led to me going back out on all my drugs, being an addict.
You mention you've only been taking the opiate mix for a month? You won't have too many problems stopping them. Some discomfort, but what's mentioned in the posts above will really help U out with that. You'll be done in no time.
Congratulations on nipping this in the bud. Excellent move!! If you play with fire you WILL eventually get burned, and it's a long twisted road down the tubes being addicted to opiates.
You'll have good luck with Celebrex and good luck to you!
Oh and the tolerance thing is a big problem too, cause the more you take the more you need for it to work. I was the same way only seeming to get relief from narcotics but once you get them out of your system you are better able to evaluate your pain. I've noticed that I can take 800 mg of ibuprofen now and it will help some.
Hi and welcome! I am on 7 days off of vicodin. It all was prescribed to me for my crippled back. I never took it any way I wasn't supposed to or took more than my dr said to take. I had been on more than off them for about a year. Your body does start to depend on them physically and mentally whether you are taking them for legitimate pain or recreational use. While I was on them my mind was playing tricks on me about how awful the pain was and how much I needed to keep taking my medicine. I'm on day 7 and there is pain. The pain is always going to be there but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. You will notice once you stop relying on them that you wake up and say yeah I hurt move around a bit and it's bearable. It's very freeing to be able to do that and realize it hurts but you can handle it. To not be dependent on nasty pills.
Hi, welcome here-.... i have no experience of taking them for pain but i have heard many people here saying that after quitting them, they experience less pain than while they were on the pills... there is the socalled rebound pain after quitting, you will experience bouts of inreased pain but it does gets better so i will commend you for trying a new way without addictive painkillers to deal with your pain...You don't have to be a martyr either... you have talked to your doctor, he has given you a new medication, i would say, give it a try. yes, you might be a week or two miserable but the new med might work given the time needed...meanwhile read the thomas recipe, you will find some natural advices that can relieve your symptoms a little bit,.... take into account if you can take them with your medical issues. Most of them are stuff like keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, hot baths with epsom salts to relieve your muscle pains, mineral supplements like magnesium and potassium to help with muscle cramps and pains, immodium for diahrrea, advil, Hylands restful legs for reslessness legs syndrom and so. and keep posting, pls... we will try helping you.. I am sure someone with experience of pain and pills will chime in also... GOOD LUCK !!
Oh and yes I know this forum is about substance abuse which I know I am addicted. I need help coming off of perc and Vic while still being able to find a non narcotic that helps me but seems after celebrex wears off in an hr after taking it I am reaching to my pill stash.
