sorry, correction...
*I'm just so sick of doing this ON and off thing for years now....
Find one with a informative website.... call and talk to the receptionist or see if they have a 1800 number.... I worked at a very good rehab in PA and those are definately good things to look for... I would call some up and chat with the staff.. sometimes on the weekends the techs and counselors answer the phones so you can ask them questions... I did this for years while working there...
Calling and chating with the staff is a must. Some are harder than others meaning they use less medication.... Call the nurses at the front station a few times during different parts of the week and get different people for the same detox telling you what it's like there.
This is the best decision of you life, make it a good one and an good try!
i went to one at a hospital that has a great reputation in our area (suburbs of Chicago). maybe check out a hospital in the area too?
thanks for the great advice everyone. I'm really hoping to do this on my own but there have been many times I've wanted to check myself in somewhere and just didn't know where to start.
I know its out of your area but the most comprehensive I have found is in a town called Connerville Oklahoma. They focus on rebuilding our neurotransmitters through vitamins and amino acids. I think I found it by googling Connerville, Oklahoma. It is very thourough. They have a very informative website. It is called "Arrow" something. I know the word arrow is in the name. There isn't much else in that town so you sholuld be able to find it easily if you are interested.
I think I'll call them and see if they have any sister-rehabs up this way. It may be that one big company owns a whole bunch of individual ones.
Best of luck to you! You can do this. People get clean and live productive lives everyday. You can be one of them. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Blessings to you! I could not do it alone and needed professional guidance. It helps so much to live life on life's terms rather than the haze we have to live it in,(when using)..... It can be fun too!
This forum is a great support group and meetings can go a long way too.

Hopefully you don't need this advice any longer and you are living the life you've dreamed of by now.
However, if anyone else out there is still struggling with finding the right rehab, here are some tips.
The first thing to do is to research the types of features that are offered at various rehab facilities. Most people blindly look for the one that is closest or cheapest without really knowing what they're looking for.
After you know what features you need to consider, you should objectively look at that list and identify the features that are the most important to you. Only then can you start looking for facilities, but you will have a better idea of what you're looking for.
