Problem with ambien is that it is addictive. At first, when it came out, they did not feel it was. Now however, tests show that is can be highly addictive. My husband is a doctor and he feels that seroquel is not the best choice for sleep. I'm trying it anyway...lol...any weight gain or grogginess and I won't continue the use. I'll let you know!
A family member (adult) has been on Seroquel now for about nine months. It works. But her weight has balloned from 150 lbs to very near 200. That bring other health problems. She is on other drugs for manaagement of bi-polar all of which seem to work well for her; however, there has to be an answer to the weight gain problem. she does not overeat....quite to the contrary. And although she is not really physical, she does walk and live a normal active life.....any suggestions????
I have been taking seroquel for about 5 years now. I am up to 400mg a day/night. It is an antiphsycotic medication but also used for other disorders such as help with sleeping. There are a few side effects but they normally go away after a couple of weeks. I take 400mg seroquel, 1mg klonipin, and 150mg lyrica every night at bedtime. It definitely helps me sleep and I no longer have the groggy feeling when I wake in the mornings. As long as you have at least 8 hours to devote to sleep each night, you shouldnt have any groggyness at all. But like I said, it does definitely help with sleeping. If you can hang in there for a couple of weeks, you should do fine.
I have taken it, it does make you really groggy the next day. There are a lot of side effects. The main one I didnt like was weight gain. After I started using it for a while I was eating like crazy. I was taking 100 mg. My doc said I could take up to 9 pills, because it is mainly for mania, but, I never had to take more than 2. I love ambien too. It sucks though cause my insurance does not cover it and its expensive. Do a search on it, there are quite a few side effects that I ant remember,,, Good luck
I found that it made me groggy as hell next day. I like ambien better for sleep. No groggy the next day. But seroquel works better at KEEPING you asleep.
