DAY 7!!! STILL FEELING IT

Hello All,
I joined the forum a week ago and posted as "going not so cold turkey". I am glad to report that I am still opiate/benzo free for the seventh day. I had a bad addiction taking 30mg percocets approx. 5 or 6 a day (sometimes even 8-10 a day). I went thru hell and a lot of you guys were there with me, Thank you. especially the folks from L.A. who would talk to me while its 5 AM here in Boston.
However, I find myself waking up feeling great and as the day progresses I feel worse until about 8pm and then I feel awful. I have been eating really good food but my appetite *****! I eat salads and bananas, tuna, protein drinks(boat house farms 64 G protein), eggs. NO fastfood!. I don't want to put Burger King into my stomach while I feel like this. I mostly just have stomach pains. every other w/d symptom has dissipated. any advice would help. I cant eat TUMS or Pepto though.
Once again thanks to all those folks that helped me enormously.

Yay!  This post makes me happy!  Good for you man (:
The walk today and the NA meeting will have you feeling MILES better.  Personally, and this is just me- I did a total liver cleanse diet for 5 weeks after my detox.  No dairy, wheat, sugar, caffeine, or alcohol.  At week 3 I also eliminated meat (just for a week) I began an intensive exercise program that included hiking 3 km a day and 90 minutes of hot yoga 5 times a week.  I felt fantastic at the end of this and even ended up quitting smoking!!  Fell off the wagon with that a year later but got back on and am still riding it.  I went back to caffeine after about 2 months once my anxiety had gone and my sleep regulated but stayed off of alcohol and sugar for at least a year....Maybe longer.  I also engaged in a rigorous aftercare program that included addictions counselling, CBT, EMDR for PTSD and a support group for women with addictions that were abuse/rape survivors.
The two years after I got clean were the very best in my life and even though I'm going through a medical crisis right now that is testing me in EVERY way- I am still working my recovery and the things that i learned such as.
1. Don't isolate
2. Reach out for support
3. Practice positive self talk
4. Practice self care
5. Balance, balance, balance.

I am excited for you and your new beautiful and clean future.  Keep up the good work.  The world is yours (:

You sound like you are doing QUITE well for 7 days into detox from the amount you came off of!!
Adding some exercise, sunshine, a meeting and a very lose dose of imodium for a short spell ALL sound like good things to add to your recovery bag.  You are healing.....every single moment.....even when it doesn't "feel" like it.  Keep on keepin on~

the only reason I mention this'is because of the recipe in withdrawal can actually be fatal I felt mine for 3 to 4 weeks after I quit and I was taking 3 to 4 milligrams xanax a day. I actually had a seizure a week and a half after quitting cold turkey.

have you thought about going to the hospital to see your family doctor or the doctor on call in outpatients for outpatient detox? they usually used codeine and Valium in a tapering type program. But in order to get that you would need to bring a trusted person with you such as one of your family members or very good friend who is no history of substance abuse that is willing to dispense your medication. If not you can ask to get yourmedication dispenser once a day and you would need to pick it up at the pharmacy and tickets in front of them. Each couple of days you will drop on your dosage that way you feel no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. You could easily tell them that you have we cleanin and they could adjust your dosage accordingly.

Thanks again everyone, I appreciate the responses and support that this place gives. I will not use today. Today is about 7 days of love and support from you guys, my wife and friends. Today is about taking the leap and going to N/A at 7pm. Def gonna check on the Imodium and get some exercise today. I pray for everyone on here because we fight this alone, but it's this place that has helped so much.

Hi there my fellow Bostonian! I'm sorry to hear you are still feeling rough, but congratulations on 7 days clean!  It sounds like you are doing the right thing with the diet. Eating as healthy as possible really helps speed up recovery. Try to stay away from processed, fatty, and sugary foods and caffeine until you are feeling better. Another thing that really helps speed up the process is exercise. Why not get out and go for a long walk today? It's a lovely day in Boston my friend! :)  Hang in there and keep fighting. You will continue to feel a little better every day. It just takes time.

Imodium is made from the thiabaine poppy... the same poppy used to make oxycodone andbothr synthetic opioids. Although it is non euphoric I have heard it can ellegedly prolong opiate withdrawals in some.. pepto may be ur best bet. Also avoid cough syrup containing dextromethorphan HCl. Or Dexter Morphin Polorystix.

Take ONE immodium to stop the cramps and runs. Don't drink coffee for a little while longer and congratulations on one week clean!

Immodium works great, but your digestion gets hooked on those meds too. I would just keep doing what you are for longer. The protein shakes and smoothies with fresh berries and fruit were a staple for me. Thank how much better today is than 7 days ago, another week and it will be better. Just keep nourishing your body, none of the symptoms you describe sound unbearable, just really annoying. Hang in there, and definitely avoid BK.
