Day 10 of no Vicodin

Well I am finishing up 10 days of no pills (vicodin 7.5's) and I know I have written this before but I really think I should feel better than this.  I have no energy and last night was the worse ever.  All day I was filled with anxiety and at night I sweated buckets all night even with the window open and fan on.  When oh when will I feel better?  I look around the house which is just a mess...and think in my head you need to take care of this then I lay back down on the couch.  I keep thinking maybe tomorrow I will feel right, maybe tomorrow I will like myself again, maybe tomorrow.....maybe you should not have damaged your body with all of those vicodins you dumb biotch ugh..when will it end.  - Sorry I had to get that off my chest.

I am on day 14 without any pills.  I was on them for about a year and a half.  Most of the wd symptoms are gone except for the extreme anxiety.  I had to start taking ativan for the anxiety about a week ago. I am really scared to become addicted to these too but I just can't make the anxiety stop.  I was dx with breast cancer 2 1/2 years ago and due to chemo and  drugs that I take to keep the cancer away it has put me into early menopause (I am 38).  I plan on scheduling an appt. with my doc in the next week or so to see if the anxiety is from the withdrawal or all the other stuff that is going on.

Yes they took everything out at 37 and I only took hormone replacements for 5 years so perhaps that is not my issue...but what the heck could it be?  Last night, same sweating in buckets while trying to sleep issue. I wanna blame all of this on going ct and the withdrawals because I honestly can't remember if I was having this problem before I became addicted to vicodin - that was 2 years ago.

I have been drinking alot of gatoraide and now I am wondering is that is causing this....I will make my appointment this week to see the doctor.

Thanks -

When you had the hysterectomy did they take your ovaries too?  Have you taken hormones all these years?  If you have your ovaries you will still go thru menopause, if they took them at 37 then you went thru menopause at 37.  Its your ovaries that produce the female hormones.  51 is really the key age for menopause so that could be part of it.

I thank you all for your input.  I was wondering the same thing regarding something else going on with me besides just withdrawals.  I am at the age of menopause, however I had a hysterecomy (sp) when I was 37.  Perhaps this age would have been the normal time to begin all of the menopause symptoms (ah maybe that doesn't make sense either).  Luckily I just retired so I have plenty of time to figure this out.  I of course haven't enjoyed being retired because I made the decision to stop the nonsense with pills. It is the best decision I ever made in my life though. I am making an appointment with my doctor today.....hopefully she can figure it out - besides I really want my liver tested. Again thank you all for the great suggestions.

Could there be more going on than wd from Vicodin?  Why were you taking it, did it start with a medical condition?  Were you self medicating for depression or anxiety?

It could be what you are feeling is more than wd.   Maybe you should go to your doctor, be honest with him or her, and make sure you are ok.

I agree with the taking a walk advice.   It seems the more I just sit around the worse I feel.  I kind of have to make myself get up and do stuff right now, but I feel better when I do.  Remember you didn't get this way in 10 days so it may take a little while to get back to normal.  Keep pushing forward.

A combination of healthy food (whole foods) and any exercise will help. If you can force yourself to go for a walk, you will feel better and increase it daily. It will be hard to make yourself do it, but the reward is there. Hang in there.

Ahh been there, I know its super hard. However maybe turn on some loud music that you like and try to force yourself to get up and do a couple of little things around the house. I know its the last thing you wanna do, it does help though. Or I dont know where you live, but maybe sit outside in th sun for awhile. Day 10 is awesome you are through the worst try and remember how you felt on day 2,3 try and recognize the small improvements. Your doing it Girl, so stay strong and give yourself a break! Easy does it.

Maybe this is all in my head - I used for 2 years so maybe I forgot what I used to feel like - or since I am 2 years older now (51) maybe this is how I am supposed to feel...I am driving myself nuts.  Maybe this is OLD AGE - ugh

Well to be honest at 10 days off Vicodin yeah, I'd think you'd be feeling better.  It must just be hitting you harder than most.  I'm really sorry for you.  Please hang in there.  The good days have to be right around the corner.  You've come this far now look at it as some kind of contest ... Like "Well how long can the worst WD case go one?"  We are all waiting to see.  Don't let us down.  :)

Hi,

It will come soon.  I don't how long you were using, but everyone is different. If you can do something to try to move, maybe not clean perse.  Go for a quick walk in the fresh air, do some jumping jacks.  Or maybe take a long HOT shower.  You will feel better soon, the more time under your belt, the better you fee.  Believe me I've done this WD thing a thousand times!  Good luck!!
