Day 17 - back hurts

day 17 ct from oxy/hydro/methadone. Cravings are very little to non-existent. Getting more sleep at night day by day.
Here is my only issue right now. My lower back will NOT stop aching! Ive tried hot hot baths, heating pads, tylenol, aleve. Those give me some temp relief, but it comes back pretty quick.
Previous posts have told me this is part of wd's. At what day do you think this will go away, and if it isnt better by that day, should i get it checked out? I really dont want to get it checked out, because their only solution will be to give me pills. I"m not going back to that.
thanks

Obviously if it continues on & on or gets way worse you should get it checked out. It is probably just one more w/d symptom.

This is normal. It is the "body craving hoping you'll give in":)
It should ease up real soon. Good job on day 17! Try 1-2 cups of Epsom salts in the bath. It forces magnesium into the muscles which does help some. It seems to me it was about 2-1/2 to 3 weeks before my pain level actually decreased to a much lower level than while I was using. hang in there. It will get better.

I'm really glad to hear that you've had no back problems before.  I have no idea how my back will feel in the future b/c I've been on this stuff for too long to know.  My back surgery was in 2003.  What I'm saying is that hopefully our backs are suppose to hurt right now, but not later.  It's just the WHEN part that pisses me off!

What about a massage?  I can't get one b/c I'm tickled too easily.  Bummer huh?

The stress put on your body from w/d's combined with laying around more than normal can bring on some back stiffness/soreness. I have back issues and it became worse after quitting the pills for a month or so before it improved, I got use to moaning when i moved, not that it helped.. lol.  I started to stretch my back slowly and arch it inward and try to hold it there to straighten my spine. I also started to do some situps to strenghten my stomach muscles to support my back again. I had to do is all in my bed at first because of the pain and my weaken condition. My back is much better now that i am free to move around without major aches. I took anti-inflammatories before but the pain meds seemed to keep them from working. I'm taking them again without the pain meds and it seem to help now along with some Ibuptofen. The pain meds shut down the brains' receptors to direct the white blood cells to fight off the healing of wounds, infections, etc. and as the drugs leave your system your body will once again start to heal. Good luck and hope you feel well soon.

I am on day 38 without vicodin and this last weekend my lower back also hurt a lot. I have back problems anyway and sort of chalked it up to doing too much. I started listening to a book, it is sort of like books on tape, written by Dr. John Sarno MD titled Healing Back Pain and he says that a lot of back pain is brought on by stress and sudden changes or events in our lives. The pain can manifest itself and cause may symptoms of serious problems, but I digress. If you can read or listen to the book, it might help you.

Please let me know if any good advice is given.  I'm suffering too with the low, mid, & upper spine w/bad shoulders too.  It is better today than the last 2 days, but still early.

I've been alternating tylenol & BC Powder, hot showers & baths, menthol rubs w/heating pad....blah....blah.

By the way, I'm only on day 9 & you're double ahead of me.  I hate hearing about the pain you're having b/c it's what got a lot of us started with the enemy.

Do let me know.

Have you had back problems in the past?  If so, there are many other alternatives doctors can do besides pills.  Injections, braces, lidocaine patches...
Congrats on 17 days!!!!
