Same here one of my hookups is my Aunt down the street. Last time i quit she offered some to me and she knew what i was going thru but she has her own struggles with pills and she still hasnt admitted to having a problem. So this time im gonna prepare for the little traps out there i cant get away from, but the ones i can, I say Buh Bye no more.I think it would be a good idea for you to come clean with them it will be easier if you dont have to hide this.   Good luck....Nessa

I am very serious.   This whole thing is a part of my emotional and financial recovery.  However, not so easy to burn the bridges when they are family.   But, I think I will come clean with them.

Thank you, I can use all of the support that I can get.   It is so difficult as there is no one in my house that is aware of this.   I had someone call and offer me some percs already today and I said no and then went and took a hot shower.   It seems to have helped as I feel better.   You are right one minute is fine and thenext is difficult.   I am not much of a religious person but I have found myself praying about this as well.   Good Luck to you.   Dan

No, I have been through it a couple of time but never this bad.   I used to use them for three weeks and stop for a week I would feel bad but not unbearable.   I have been using them daily now for three years that I am aware that this tiome will be more difficult.    Thanks for the tip with Ambien, I am afraid to take it during the day as it puts me out like a light.   I stayed home today and hope by the end of the weekend the worst will be over.   Thanks for your support.

Hello congrats to you as well.  I am on my second day one, in the last three days.   I stopped Wednesday.  It was a decent day not a lot of symptoms.   I woke up Thursday and was having  a good morning and then I took a vic.   This was not a good move although it was my last one.   So today is really day one for me.   It is a harder day than Wednesday.   I am mostly having mild anxiety and restlessness.   I have been taking 20-30 mg of vic or percocet per day everyday for the last three years but have been using them on and off for about 11 years.   It is time to stop and I know this.   I just hope that I can do it.   Again cingrats and good luck.

Hi Nessa,

Congrats on your progress...your definitely doing the right thing.  I would say in 3 or 4 days you will probably start to see to feel better physically, your nervous energy should go down a bit.  Two weeks was the point where I mentally started feeling better.  I understand exactly what your going through and I've tried to quit so many times unsuccessfully.  Hang in there and cry as much as you need to, it actually does help.  I know I'm relatively early in the game too, only three weeks clean, but just thought I'd share...keep it up!!!

Nessa -- this stuff is actually keeping me much less agitated and I'm not watching the clock every second.  But I have a feeling Bikerdad might be right about the sleeping aspect because i've been trying to doze off and just cant do it (thanks for the info btw bikerdad).  But not feeling like I want to tear my skin off is a welcomed relief.

Balldad -- is this the first time you've tried to make it through the wd symptoms?  I withdrew from percocet one time and found that to be a bit more intense than withdrawing from vics.  That ambien may help you during the day if you start feeling terrible too.  I had some of that the last time I did this and it made me able to barely funciton at work, which I couldn't have done without that stop the rediculous sweats and anxiety.

Hello all,
Today is day # 1. I used vics and percocet for 11 years after a battle with cancer.   However, I believe I have mostlty used them to deal withj emotional stuff.   Anyway At the end I have been taking 20-30 mg per day.   WD has not been real badSome mild anxiety and some soreness so far.   I have Ambien to help sleep if I need it.   Keeping busy and Hydrated seems to help.   I have beeen forcing myself to eat even though I do not feel like it.   Dan

Hi andrew. All he gave you is a natural expensive sleeping aid. I tried some when I was detoxing the first time and all it did was make me groggy and awake which made the sleepness nites even longer and harder. Its just like eating a bunch of turkey on thanksgiving. Thats all tryptophan is. It does however help you getting to sleep when not going thru wd. Maybe it will help you more than it did me.

ok so I went to the vitamin store and got some melatonin and the guy at the store talked me into buying this L-5 Hydroxy Tryptophan, which is supposed to "promote calming and relaxation."  He said I shouldnt use it regularly but that it will help you go into a "deep sleep."  I am not a fan of vitamins and supplements and don't believe a lot/most of them work but I was willing to give it a shot at this point.  Surprisingly, and maybe it's in my head, but I do not feel very anxious at all after taking 2 of them.  Has anybody else ever taken this during wd?

Hang in there. My doc gave me lyrica which not only helps with the rls but helps really nice with the sleep too. I was a bit nervous to take it at first but i researched it thourally. It is a non narcotic and non benzo. It reduces the amount of electrical brain pulses to your nerves and reduces the rls. I slept very well why taking it. Unfortunately I stopped taking it a few days ago and have had a few restless nites. I would rather have restless nites after the wd than during it tho. We are all proud of you and cheering you on.

Yea the lack of sleep is terrible and only going to get worse for me over the next few days -- at least that's the way it's been in the past.  I'm going to grab some mellatonin and see how that does.  My mind still feels like it's in a fog though and I haven't hit the zero energy phase yet, although it feels like it's starting.  I drink a good bit (another habit that I'd like to kick, although not nearly as much as I want to be done with these god awful vics) and thought that might help last night but it almost seemed to make the situation LESS tolerable.  I think knowing that the worst wd symptoms are right around the corner and that there isnt much I can do about it has to be the worst part of this.  But man does it seem like a better solution than keeping on taking so many of these things that I end up feeling sick when I'm on them from taking too many and waking up in a drug induced haze.  It's going to feel so good to feel normal again.

I am on day 3, as you know. I havent slept for days it seems. 30min intervals at best. I've tried everything!  Hopefully that will continue for you. It has become, currently my biggest enemy of this horrible addiction I kicked! Good god I prayer for sleep all day yesterday, nothing. However I also take wellbutrin which is a side effect of that too. I may just stop for a few days to see if I can get a wink in. Keep up the GREAT work. We are on our way sister!

Hey, I'm on day two also.  I tried benedryl to sleep last night but it makes me feel unbearably squirmy.  Is that the restless leg thing?  I'm exhausted but cant sleep and really wish I could just fall asleep for two good hours.  Can you get melatonin tabs over the counter?  And is hylands a vitamin or do you have to go to the dr for that?  I went for a really long bike ride yesterday and that seemed to help tremendously until about 2 hours later when I felt like I absolutely couldn't calm down (anxiety) for anything, which I think made the sleep issue worse.  Should I just stick to walking?  Thanks for the advice.
