Hi guys good morning L's here, it has been 48 hours since i've taken any hydrocodone. :) go me! i'm proud of myself for that BUT i've been taking one 10mg methadone every morning since.....and i must say it has really helped with the cravings i woke up this morning 24 hours after taking my last methadone and i still had no cravings what so ever.....but i'm starting to see why this drug can be just as addicting as the other if not worse because today i am feeling my first buzz off it.....and i dont plan on taking anymore of it cuz i'm liking it a little to much lol...besides i don't have anymore a family member gave me 3 methadone and said that outta get me through the withdrawals?  idk what i'm gonna do if i start to WD after this methadone gets out of my system someone give me some input on whether or not i will withdrawal from the hydrocodone after this wears off ? thanks guys, brandon

yes you will still withdrawal the methadone is just delaying it, I went on methadone maint. , then I stopped goin to the detox , the methadone binds to the receptors of the brain , blocking detox and blockin other opoids , thats why you dont crave , now if you dont want to go c/t , check around for a methadone clinic and there is suboxone , a new FDA approved detox drug I am goin to start next week.  ooxx Keri

I have taken methadone to get through withdrawals many, many times. I "usually" take one 10 mg methadone per day for the first 3 days. Well, I actually wait for the withdrawals symptoms to hit, so AFTER the first 24 hours or so is when I begin taking them. That gets me through the worst of the withdrawals. After that, it's just dealing w/the restlessness, the lack of sleep, some hot/cold flashes, etc. But, I am through the worst flu-like symptoms, and those DO NOT come back when I stop the methadone. To me, it is fantastic. Methadone gets a bad rap on this board, but I love it. Having gone through the withdrawals many times w/o methadone, to me, it's a life saver.

I've never gotten a high from it and never been addicted to it. I've never had to withdraw from it either. Must be the way I take it, because many on this board thinks it's the absolute worst drug one can take.

Fo me, in my experience, again, it's a life saver!

Good luck and let us know how you do.

you probably don't have time to get hooked in three days, but be careful.  i'm 25 days out from starting the tapering process and 9 days from no methadone and it was litterally torture.  DON'T GET HOOKED.  its not worth it.  the hydro wd's are much easier.  been there. done that.  if you can get help, the dr. will help you. mine did.  the worst of your hydro wd's is probably over, but i don't really know cause i don't know if the methadone just took it's place.  anyway. good luck, and my prayers are with you.

I am in the same boat.....
I have gone 12 days without hydrocodone and am on day 11 of methadone.  I went to a clinic.  I did wait until the withdrawals kicked in.  I was hoping it wouldnt be that bad.  Since I am pregnant I was afraid the wd would cause damage to the pregnancy.  I go to a doctor on Monday.... I will find out then if it is best to continue with the methadone or go off of it and wd.  Or go back on hydro until i have the baby.... we will see.
Keep me updated because I was curious about the same thing (coming off of methadone and wondering if I would wd from the hydro or if that part was overwith)
Good luck to you!
