Anybody there

I am currently addicted to codiene I was taking 115mg 5 times a day and have got down to 75mg 5 times a day on Tuesday my question is jps long do these withdrawal symptoms last I am tempted to take more tablets but I'm being strong but don't know how much more I can take surely tapering down shouldn't be this painful or prolonged.

She's suggested a couple of weeks but personally I think she has cut me down to much as I have gone from nearly 600mg to just over 300mg so don't think my body likes it I wished now I had completely stopped but now on day 3/4 do I'm thinking should just stick with it I am just hoping the withdrawals stop soon I am going to suggest to her the next time just CTasim suffering bad enough as if is.

I have done both. The tapering was hard for me because of the temptation and the prolonged withdrawal. No withdrawal is pleasant but I found it easier to just get it over with in a few days. And you will talk to other members here who will say that tapering made the jump easier for them. I know know how much 75 mgs of Codiene is compared to the pills that I was taking so I can't make the comparison for you.

Over what period of time is your doctor suggesting the taper?

Follow what your doctor says. If you feel that you are on a good, safe taper plan then stick with it. If you feel it is too quick then speak with your doctor.

My GP said not a good idea as I was on a lot of codiene not bothered about cravings or even the cramps ill even take the runs its just this tiredness of my bodie that I've never felt before I'm on day 3 of reduction is reducing just the same as ct I.e the amount of days I'm going to suffer.

Tapering is tricky business. The lower you go down the more your body (and mind) craves the drug. As long as it is still in your system you will crave more. It is often a matter of pull the band-aid off quick or slow.

Have you considered just going cold turkey and getting it over with?
