Day 5 and going strong

Today is the start of day 5 for me!!! The physical stuff is pretty much over with, except for fatigue.  I had a really annoying stomach ache last night, but I took my anxiety med and it went away.  For some reason I've been really hungry but at the same time, I'm losing weight...?  The thing I'm really worried about is that on Monday I know my doctor is going to call in my Vicodin, and I really want to keep some on hand for those emergencies (I have degenerative disc disease).  My fiance has volunteered to hold them for me, but I'm worried that if I know they're around I'll want one all the time!  Not sure what to do...

Does your doctor know you have been abusing these?  If not i would have a heart to heart with him.  There are other meds out there that are non narcotic.  Having pills around never seems to work out as they call your name.  Your brain will play some nasty games with you......Congrats on 5 day!!                  sara

Congrats!  the first week is always the hardest.  I have done it several times throughout different surgeries.  I have tried to do just as you said, keeping a supply on hand in case of emergencies but it never worked for me.  I always went and got it and never told my girlfriend I picked it up and I would try not to take them but I always gave in to the slightest amount of pain thinking I would just have one or two to get me through work but then I just slipped right back into my old habit as usual.  Maybe you can be stronger than I have been but be very careful because addiction can make you do things that you believe you are stronger than.
