Day 60 today!! Just starting my sobriety but so worth it!

I have been looking over everyone's posts and I have to say I feel for everyone just starting out. Those first days are hell and it feels like an impossible task in front of you...I just want everyone in that position to know that it can be done and everyone starts at day one at some point. I used to feel like day one or even day 10 wasn't an achievement because I wanted to be so much further along, I felt like my single digit days were not much of an accomplishment but I am here to tell you that EVERY DAY that you are sober is a tremendous accomplishment!  Remember we all have to start at day one...it's up to you to make it say 20 then 30 then 40.....remember that YOU CAN DO IT!!!  The rewards are so many and so plentiful and they can be yours....you can have your life back!  This is coming from a 13 year addict of 30 pills a day, someone on the brink of not wanting to live because my life was so controlled by pills I could barely take a shower without them...I know the pain. Get past it and take control...you are completely worth it!!!!  Happy New Years everyone!!

Congrats for your 60 days clean.
Although there are a lot of people here. A lot of them just read, helping them is kinda blind.
Just know your post has help more than you know.
Great job.

Thank you all for your words. Clean in ks...thank you so much for sharing your story, that made me feel so much better. I just started posting at about day 50 so I agree about the fact that if you don't go through the whole process on line it changes responses. But I have to say that those going through the first days need more help than those farther along (although everyone needs it from time to time). I am going to try to help anyone I can...that's why we are here..,to encourage and enlighten each other. Have a Happy New Year everyone....and for those really struggling, keep your eyes on the prize.

Same thing happened to me, Andie.  I was 55 days clean before I ever found this forum.  Still couldn't type very well, couldn't drive yet, and was sick as a dog.....I didn't know how forums work......or ANY social community for that matter.  I'd been in a "tomb" for about 4 years
So when I did finally post.....my first one, I didn't ask a question.  Nobody EVER posted on my first one!  It really hurt my feelings.  After I got the hang of it I posted a few questions, but still didn't get much response.  I think the fact that I hadn't been thru day 1 of w/drawals and NEEDED MedHelp folks to help me thru it.....they just weren't connected to me or knew me or something.
I finally "got over myself" and just started posting on other people's threads to try and help them.
All that to say....I'M REALLY GLAD YOU'RE HERE TONIGHT!  And so glad you have 60 days!  When you posted tonight, I was watching a rented DVD w/hubby.  And being new yrs eve, a lot of people are either celebrating a "new clean way" tonight or they are sick as dogs in their
w/drawals.  So.....please continue to encourage others......we ALL need to hear it.....I just wanted you to know I related and that because of "my beginnings" around here it is still hard to allow myself to be vulnerable.
Nobody went thru the "early days of hell" with me, and I do think that makes
a diff.  Keep posting.....I'm so glad you are here......and here's to our new road in recovery in 2013~

That last post of mine sounded pretty childish. I apologize for that.  It's just that people in all stages of recovery need positive reinforcement. I am trying to encourage as many people here as I can. That should be my goal, not to get posts...thank you for your response and I'm glad to hear you are on your way as well!  The best of luck to you !

Your post was helpful--a lot of us read and don't post often! I am newly free from pills and am looking forward to this new year. It really is amazing how each new day gives you more of yourself back. Happy New Year!
