I want to stop but it's so hard

I have 3 lil ones. Just last year July I started taking lorcets. I started off with 3-4 a day now i take up to 10 a day. It kills me inside because every time i think about my kids. I feel like a failure. I try quitting several times but it's really hard. The withdrawls are un believable. My kids depend on me. So therefore I'm the bread winner so I can't miss any work. i work monday-friday. I've try stopping over the weekend but then started back up on mondays cus i just can't go to work like this. Can anyone give me any suggestion?? Any ideas in how to stop? How do you do it!?

Cutting back is certainly a step in the right direction....BUT...you have to go through the WD to get to the other side.
Tapering makes them a lot more tolerable, but there will be some WD.
Take them as a badge of honour and suffer them bravely.
You are taking the first step and continue till the end and get rid of these pills forever.
Prepare your body with vitamins and nutrients to fight this battle that you do NOT intend to lose.

Thanks! Well I'm happy to say that I went from 15-20 pills a day to 4 pills a day. I take 10/650 lorcets.. Right now I'm taking 540 watson blue? Is that less damaging for me? Cause it doesn't feel the same.. It does help with feeling crappy but lol i kinda was looking for that whoo! feeling... Well next week I want to start doing 3 a day.. I been cutting down for the past 2 weeks..I started doing 7 a day then went down to this 4 a day..And what made me really cut down is that I just got a new car.. It was either my habit or a ride? Without a ride no money comes in., I needed a reliable transportation to go to work and make my money... I guess this is Gods way of working.. I would pray every night to help me leave this lowsy habit.. It was taking alot of money from me each month.. Now I have a car note and full coverage.. I can't afford it anymore... so I buy just a couple to last me all week.. sometimes i ran out and start trippin cus I just don't want to go through those withdrawls... It *****!

Oh well then sorry for the bad advice.  I don't know what will happen once I get down to the last few pills a day but for now I asked my doc to take me down.  All my pills come from one doc and one pharmacy always have.  I have chronic pain.  So I guess I am not as much an addict as I am tollerant.  I am on a dangerous amount that was perscribed to me.  I asked to be taken off of them.  I was scared.
Wish I could help you more.  You may have to bite the bullet and figure out a sitter for a week and get off.  Good Luck

Congrats on sticking to your taper.  I could never stick to a taper.  No willpower when I am on those devils

I just wanted to jump in and tell you that I also have three little ones.  They are 7,5, and 2.  I understand how extremely hard it is to wean or quite with kids to take care of.  I stay at home full time and my husband tralels so I rarely am without kids.  Maybe one hour a month.  So it is really impossible for me to go cold turkey.  I started weaning one week ago tommorrow.  It has not been fun but it is managable as long as I stick to the exact amount.  I fill my persciption bottle in the morning with what I am allowed that day and then lock it all away in a safe.  I started by cutting to 16 pills from the 26 I was taking daily.  Each week I will cut 2-4 pills a week until I am down to none.  It is a little like slow torture this way but it is the only way for me to take care of my kids and get OFF THE PILLS.  If you feel you could do something similar I would be happy to keep in touch with you so we could support eachother.  It is totally different for us because we have little ones that depend on us fully.
That all being said, you can do it.  We both have to do it for our kids.  Try to remember when you have a weak moment that you are doing it for them.   And when you are off you will be a better parent in every way.  The parent that you children deserve.

I went to a treatment facility but from reading your post it sounds pretty clear you don't think doing that would be an option due to your breadwinner status, I empathise with you, there.

If you decide to quit cold turkey again, try checking out the Thomas Recipe. It's a list of vitamins, amino acids, and natural remedies that help tremendously with the withdrawl symptoms. Expect 3-5 days of bad physical symptoms if this is the case. One thing I didn't see in the Thomas Recipe was the use of Melatonin, a sleep supplement that is non-narcotic/non-addictive, one of the supplements I took while in rehab. Hot showers, good food, excersise; all these help naturally increase your endorphine levels, so they will help you feel better during withdrawl.

It is just as much a mental battle as it is physical. During the work day, if you have a hour for lunch, try finding an AA/NA meeting you can attend. It shares the same principal as coming on here, support from like minded people who have been through it before. I can't stress enough how AA/NA saved my life and has allowed me to keep my very first sobriety date. I was taking up to 400 mg's of oxy every day, and now I've been sober for 11 months now without a relapse. Not trying to brag, there are people with 40 years, but AA/NA has allowed for me to share my feelings (even when the feeling is DAMN I WANT TO USE!) and once I share it the power is taken out of it. If you live in a big city or close to one, there will be a lot of meetings to choose from. Make the commitment for yourself and your family to do whatever it takes.

This method can be hard but you can do it! Good Luck!
