Day One on Suboxone!

Today is day one on suboxone, i took my last percocet yesterday at 9:00am, So I was 24 hours without anything and boy did it SUCK! I am feeling a little better on the Suboxone, a little woozy but took away most of my cravings and anxiousness and body ache. I would definitely suggest this medication to anyone who wants to get off opiates!!

Another question I have, Am I going to be feeling worse? A friend, who was a user and is now clean told me, the 72 hour mark is the worst?? But she also did it cold turkey. Anyone have info on Suboxone, or anyone who has taken it could you please help me through this?? Im such a worry bug. Id appreciate it! thank you guys so much for sticking through this with me!

Luv Ya! <3

chris, you were taking methadone and its half like is alot longer so i think that is the reason for the problems. Your doc should have known this. I think it would have been much better if you were at 4 or 5 days without anything first.

It is called precipitated withdrawal.

Transitioning from the Methadone to the Suboxone, you have to wait because of the long half life. It is doable though, so hang in there.

I was recenetly on methadone at a clinic at 50 milligrams and i decided to switch to suboxone. So I went about 2 dats with nothing. Man did I feel rough, but not as rouas as it was going to get. I took 1/2 of a 8mg suboxone tablet and about 1/2 hour later I was sweating enormously, twitching, jerking, freezing and could not sit still. this made me 100x worse than what I was. It went on like this for 3-4 hours. I'm a pretty tough cookie when it comes to pain but this took me by suprise. I was litterally crying and jerking all over the bed begging for it to stop. I called the Dr and he said to stop until he seen me again.

Has anyone ever had anything like this happen, This was true torture!!!!!
Please help!!!!!! also anybody have any ideas on what to do?? I want to continue this but not if it is going to kill me!!!!!

Has anyone evr had anything

The suboxone should take away all w/d symptoms - or at least the physical ones.  It does make some a bit naseaus but I think you will be fine if you are able to relax and possibly go to bed soon.  Tomorrow it will be much better and continue to get better as you are on it.  Good luck and relax - you have done a great thing.  Just do as you Suboxone doc tells you and you will be in great shape.

Sincerest Wishes, M

I am also on Suboxone...have been since November, I started at 16mgs and I am currently down to 6mgs and so far it has been pretty good for the w/d's... You won't have any as long as you take the Suboxone but please understand that is also an opiate which is why they ween you off of it slowly... I have great hopes for coming off of this drug as well being that this is my second attempt at sobriety.. The first time I did the Suboxone as a 5 day detox (didn't work) I was back on Vicodin in a matter of days after quiting the Suboxone.. As long as you ween slowly you should not have any w/d at all in the end.. At least I am keeping my fingers crossed :-)

I have detoxed cold turkey and 72 hours was bad, but, 48 was the worst for me, both times when I went cold turkey is when I absoutely could not take it anymore.  I do think it is diffrent for everyone, but, no matter what, you are doing it, I wish you the best in your detox.  Huggs, G
