Yes I am doing much better. I saw a therapist Tuesday. She seems ok. Just first visit didn't seem to so too much cause she doesn't know me and all I did was talk. So I hope to get more out of next visit. I haven't had an urge to a pill. Today is 2 weeks since I had 1/2 a vicodine . I have been talking to God a lot more. I was away from church for 2 years now but always Knew he was there for me but wasn't talking or praying. But I need him now and he is still there. Amazing. Well so far so good. Day by Day I go. I never thought anyone would reply to my post. I am grateful for all of you who have replied and each of you have helped me! Laura from Va Beach
youa re doing great! Isn't it awesome how God sends us messages like that? I feel them all of the time now.
keep up the good work. You may feel bouts of this and that for a while, but hang in there, they go away.
hugs,
Lily
So glad to hear things are turning around for you. Great job on the 9 days. It's great that you are doing the counseling. Aftercare is a very important part of the recovery process. Take care of yourself and keep up the fight!
I am amazed at the responses! All of u are so right too! Today is 9 days after I took a pill. I had the worse time the first 6 days. Emotional and felt I needed the crutch of the pill to get me thru the day! The sweats are gone now and I have my appitite back! That had been gone for months. I saw my pcp and he took the clonidine? Patch off. He thinks I have more of a mental need for it and not physical atThis point.. I tend to agree. I have a therapist appointment Tuesday. I use to go to church each Sunday but haven't gone for a year now. I went today and the message was about addictions. I was so amazed! The timing was exactly what I needed to hear. So the plan now is therapist and staying focused. I will update after Tuesday.
I just read 10356 (posted as I was writing), great information to follow also!
ViCorageous has some good info and support for you.
Don't worry about it "being bad" to want to take Vicodin to feel good. That's exactly what it does to millions of people all over the world. I started taking it for pain, then I quickly found myself taking it for my brain instead. I got addicted, and then it stopped working for me. It took more and more to get me "feeling good". Don't worry tigerfish, it's a completely normal reaction to it.
Almost 9 months ago I found Vicodin was running my life. It was out of control. I kept chasing that feeling of energy and getting nowhere. So I decided I wanted my life back and I quit. That's where this site comes in. We have all been there, where you are right now. We're here for support as you go through the withdrawal phase of detox and beyond. If they gave you Dilaudid (?) in the ER for your stomach pain that should have stopped your withdrawal?? If so, it will come back after that drug slowly wears off. If your willing and ready to go through the remainder of the detox process; we have the Thomas Recipe down below on this page to click on. Get those items and follow directions to help you through the detox phase. Also, your doctor really needs to know that you want off of pain meds. He/she can prescribe helpful items like Clondidine to control BP and help with sleep. As you feel anxiety, muscle pain and insomnia you'll want to get into the bathtub for hot baths with Epsom Salts. For me it was one of the most powerful of all remedies for the detox process.
I wish you well on your journey. You can do this. Congratulations on sharing with your family. The support you're going to get from them is priceless. Above all try to relax, you've just taken some really positive action that's going to turn your life around for the better.
Oh yes you may want to get some Imodium to help...
Hi Tigerfish.. Welcome to the forum.. You are going to be ok.. Day 2 is good It takes about 5 days to go thru the physical withdraw off the drugs. make sure you are drinking fluids and if you do not feel like eating at least get some ensure ok and a sports drink.. you do not want to get dehydrated it makes everything worse.. Hot showers our baths will help a lot with the muscular and bone aches also walking as much as you can.. Keeping yourself occupied keeps your mind off it and your body busy It helps.. Anxiety can be bad but the walking and staying busy will help Just remember this will go away.. Depression also may set in for a few weeks with feeling low on energy. eat well hydrate exercise.. this will also pass.. You can do this as Hubby said and as V said above support is essential.. It would be good to tell your Mom for she should know to not give you pills and in the future, If you need them again you will need your hubby to hold them for you and dole them out so you take responsibly.. Addiction is not the end it is a illness that can be managed by staying on top of your Disease.. That is being Honest with those around you and as You yourself have done.. Being honest with yourself.. In the next few days you will feel very emotional This is ok.. cry, cry all you need You have bottled up your emotions with the opiates They have consumed your thoughts I'm sure You will also find how much you have changed as your Hubby has stated. It is sooo good to get back too the Original You... I wish you the very best You really can do this and as a added benefit you may find you are not as sick as you thought you were these last few years.. Congrats on taking your life back !!! lesa
Hi and good job for telling the Hub. Yes honesty is the best way to open up for all the support you will need. Many of us started the opiates for some pain issues only to depend on them for emotional reasons too. This is when we become addicted to them. It affects many neurotransmitters in the brain. Not to say what is does to our body's too. Maybe hits some meeting too. This journey into our recovery can not be walked alone. Support is the key to help us stay clean.I wish you the best and keep on pushing forward and do not look back.
Bless
