Did anybody go through a pregnancy taking subutex/suboxone?

My sister-in-law is due on March 24th. She has been taking subutex the last 5 months or so, before that she was on suboxone. She is very worried about if the baby is going to go through withdrawals or is it will effect her epidural. If anyone has gone through this or knows someone who has, any informatiom would be helpful. Thank you.

As long as she is on the Sub under her Doctors care (I hope) she should be fine.

She wasn't planning on keeping the baby in the begining, so she was taking suboxone. When she decied to keep it, she went on subutex

What the Dr. said is pretty much what I have read.  There really isn't any long term studies to show whether subutex/suboxone use is truly safe or not during pregnancy. I did read that Subutex will cause infant withdrawal that is comparable to methadone.  I don't know what that is......but, I don't like the sound of it either way.

Thanks to Dr. Pepper for taking the time to respond.

Both suboxone and subutex are physicaly addictive so an educated guess would be that it would inhabit the fetus, there's plenty of conflicting information and very little long term or even any real extensive research with both medications, but one aspect which is a fact is subutex would be preferable to Suboxone which contains nalexone which would interfere and essentialy cancel out any opioid based medications administered for pain.
My final thought would be truthfully I don't think either are siutable and in this situation should be used as a last resort to going clean, easier said than done I know but think of the potential unknown consequences not to mention infant withdrawl.

Thanks, Dr. Pepper Roberts

Just curious.......Is she taking subutex or suboxone??  there seems to be conflicting information between the two and pregnancy.  says suboxone really should not be used, but, subutex is ok.......that's kind of scary......

Find 1234betterlife in someone's friends list and click on her blue name.  Then find where to send a message.  As long as her OB doctor knows, the baby should be ok.  If the OB doctor knows, they will know what to watch for.  I wish her lots of luck, and thanks for posting.
