Does Methadone give anyone else a bad memory

I've been taking methadone for about 4 years now and my memory is becoming worse. I regularly forget peoples names and I forget what I'm saying half way through a sentence. I constantly forget the word I need to say and its driving me mad! Am i the only one?

I think its whatever drug u take is gonna make ur mind cloudy and make u forget stuff...i was on methadone for almost two years, while i was on it i was constantly struggling trying to get my mind to focuss...now that im clean my mind has never felt so clear.. its a good feeling...ur defintly not the  only one.... <3 angie

Your far from alone, my memory was terrible and just like you I'd be speaking to someone and completely forget what I was saying??!! however now I'm clean I've noticed its starting to get much better just like all the other lingering long term probs.

When I was detoxing on methadone I also noticed feeling kind of thick headed, just couldn't think of anything to say back to people in a conversation or not till it was to late (about half a hour later!).

It will get better just keep with your detox programme.

I was on methadone for only about 1 year and ct'ed from it 3 years ago. I have found that ALL opiates effect my memory. I would find myself stopping midsentence and looking for words or trying to remember what I was saying. I am 37 days opiate free and constantly find myself trying to remember a movie or conversation from when I was activily using opiates and find I can't remember it all, almost like a blackout from alcohol. Just another reason I am glad to be free of all that now... I can remember so much more and don't stop mid-sentence as much. I still find myself looking for words but I blame that on age and my "sometimers". LOL
