Does anybody have 3 or more months sober after using suboxone to get off with???

Just would like to know the answer to that one... if anybody has had any success besides the early people, (early in thier recovery) with suboxone.... that's what I am on at the moment and it feels good but I would like to know if anybody has had bad experiences with it???

i stayed off of my two DOC'S heroin and oxycontin for more than 8 months with suboxone, i was on the highest effective dose (32mgs a day) because of the ceiling effects buprenorphine exhibits, and i still havnt touched either of the two since November 3rd of 07'. but in late march i shattered my wrist and my addiction doc actually took me off the sub and put me on ms contin and norcos, so i got right back into the vicious cycle of addiction, but i was able to stop it before it got out of control, like I was with H or Oxy's(snorted). I  actually ended up going to the nearest methadone clinic and it saved my life. I was a slave to opiates for close to 3 years, torturing myself, suboxone is a great recovery drug and tool for opiate addictions. the only problem i have noticed is it seems to depend on the severity of the addiction, if it is mild or a vicodin or percocet addiction suboxone at doses 4-16mgs has proven to keep thousands sober for years, but the more powerful opiates and the more severe your addiction is is really going to decided if sub will work well for you. my addiction i have come to find was too severe I was way too deep and the ceiling effect sub has only allows you to go so high. methadone is a full on opioid agonist whereas suboxone(buprenorphine) is a mixed agonist/antagonist-meaning the higher the dose the more of a megative effect it has. if you take higher than 50mgs you are more likely to go into withdrawals than to get any positive from taking more than necessary. many ppl have tried and im sure ppl will continue to try going higher but it is a scientific fact that it has a ceiling effect at 32 mgs. any higher and its not effective, its actually been studied that the best dose to be at is in between 4mgs-16mgs, any higher than 24mgs and its pointless. for ppl who use sub recreationally, or who dont have an addiction to opiates, a lower dose willactually get them for of a high effect and the same goes for someone who has an addiction to opiates. both suboxone and methadone are hard to come off of. theres no magical way to beat it, but as far treatment drugs that curb cravings and stop the terrible wd's they both work wonders, but counseling, meetings, and groups are also crucial in staying sober. the drug cant do everything. many ppl believe methadone is a lot harder to get off of than suboxone, but from personal experience and from others who are just finding out, they are just about equally bad as far as the withdrawals go and tapering down the dose. they are both addicting. from personal experience i remember getting that "high" feeling from suboxone for much longer than with methadone. i am on 95 mgs of methadone a day and i do not have any effects what so ever other than drowsiness. the first 3 days of the methadone treatment i felt like i had taken a long long lasting heroin, but after your body builds it up you dont feel a thing, but it works wonders. getting off either drugs, you must go slow. otherwise youre asking for long, painful withdrawals. both drugs have longer than a month of horrible wd's, so both are very hard to quit. the shorter you are on sub the easier it is to get off, but like i said earlier it all depends on the severity of your addiction. some need to be on it for life or at least years. there is no time frame you can put on beating addiction. some do a 24 day detox with sub, others stay on methadone for 20+ years and will stay on it till they die, cuz its just too hard to get down completely and get off. i wiould have been on either of them for at least a few years. just remember not to go cold turkey with either of the drugs, thats when youll pay. and remember the lower the dose, the more effective sub is, so keep that in mind. as far as negative effects go, i  didnt have any, i still had many cravings, but that is something mental your brain has to slowly fix over time. methadone has proven to be more effective for me, but everyone is different and suboxone does work really well. stay strong and focused on your sobriety-christos

Yeah, man! me!!!!  Suboxone was a miracle drug for me.  Like the post above me, suboxone is is a God-send.  8 months without even desiring opiates.........amazing and you know how warm and fuzzy and confident and checked out we feel when we take opiates.  Oh, how I miss my former loved one, but I've moved on........and you can, too.  Welcome back to real life!!!!!  All the frustration and confusion is only momentary.  You're done!  You have the rest of your life to live.  Don't walk backwards!  I take nothing now, however, I let the suboxone dr. treat me for 3 months.

I forgot to anwser your question... about 10 days ago, I had been having real bad reactions and cravings and have been going through some emotional trauma.... I just did not want to be without something and if I had kept on, would have fallen back to the hydros...  I did not want that so after 2 weeks OFF I went back on the suboxone...10 days now, at 12 to 16mgs a day and doing well on it... I guess I'm going to run the google and ask a bunch of questions... I haven't heard anything real bad yet.  Thanx for your comments.

Im not sure if this is what you were looking for but I am in my 5th month on Suboxone and have tapered down to one 8mg tablet a day.  Now, my first doctor was an idiot and he had me on 32 mg...That lasted a month and then I found another doctor.  This one is quite knowledgable about Suboxone and has said that 16mg and 32mg are really NO different as far as treatment...but are very different in terms of getting addicted to the med.  Me and my husband were able to taper rather quickly to where we are now and we plan to be here for a bit longer.  This doctor has shown us statistics from France (I believe) that show that Suboxone is believed to actually go in and repair the damaged receptor sites and somewhat retrain the brain.  If what the studies say are true, the urge would not return even after the suboxone is stopped.  Now, this is said to take from 9months to a year (at a low dose - 2-4mg) and then a quick taper to nothing.

Again, I dont know how much I buy into all of this, but just the thought is pretty awesome.  I am willing to stick it out and find out.  I am having great success on the medication andlike this doc has said - find that I need less of the med as time goes on. (a little different than the OC)

I know this is not what you were after and I know many have some bad stories, but I wanted to let you know what I had heard.  Good luck with everything.

sincerely,
tracy

Just to let you know,,,,,I started Suboxone in November with a doctor that believed in the whole slow is better taper effect, well after reading alot of posts here about long term Suboxone being bad I found a new doctor that quickley weened me from 8mgs/day to nothing in only about 2 weeks.......So it has been about a month in a half since I had any Suboxone or any opiate for that matter, and I also read the book "End Your Addiction Now" on the advice from CATUF and I have been taking the supplements I learned from in the book and I have been great no cravings or wanting to do the drug at all.... First couple of days off were rough but I believe the amino acids and supplements make a huge difference in how I feel today....  There is hope even after Suboxone look at Flaaddict she is doing GREAT,,,,  You just have to believen in yourself and want sobriety enough to grab it....How long have you been on Sub and how much a/day are you on????
