Does anyone actually bleed?

Ive read online that some of the symptoms of a failing liver is "dark urine" and "bleeding from the GI tract"......................Has anyone here ever seen those symptoms from abusing hydro? I have ulcerative colitis and Im going a through a "spell" right now. I dont know if its because of the ulcers or to much "ace" over the years that I take for kidney stones. Im prescribed 6 loritabs a day but you all know how that goes. Its been a full year on the liritabs and Im starting to worry about me liver. I ask my doc this same question and she told me that if I stay at 6 a day Im safe. There are some days that I only take 2 and then there are days when I take up to 8 (10/500)................Then out of the blue I have dark urine the other day. Only one time and I havent seen it since ( it happened a week ago). Anyone ever seen this ?

I tried to send a post, but it disappeared so if this shows up twice I appologize.  Don't get freaked out because there could be many reasons for blood in the stool and dark urine.  A hemmoroid, anal fissure or intestinal irriation (from recent constipation or  very loose stool..and you state you have UC) can cause frank blood or streaks of blood. Heck, eating a pound of grapes could cause a bowl full of diarrhea--I know from experience..my 11 year old son lost his mind when it happened to him!   Often people with hemmoroids don't even know it.  Your dark urine could just be very concentrated if you had little to drink or if you haven't urinated all day, and when you did it could be dark.  If you are worried about your liver dt hydro or any medications as a matter of fact there are a few herbals that you can take to detoxify the liver, such as the milk thistle or sam-e.  You should definitely go see your doctor either way and check with him before taking any herbals to make sure there is no drug interaction.  I hope this helps and make sure you see your doctor.

blood in the bowel is also a very bad sign; you should see your doctor.  milk thistle is not going to help you.

I guess I wasnt clear. My bleeding is from the rear end and the dark urine is from the front end. I was wondering if Im overdoing me meds and causing bleeding from the bowel. But since I have UC theres no way to tell if Im just having a flair up or something else is causing the bleeding.  And "ace" was acetaminophen  I just didnt know how to spell it in my last post.........I happen to have dark urine one day along with the bleeding and I FREAKED OUT.............Also I was told here at this forum to try Thistle Milk for the liver and I think I felt better the very first day I took it!!!!! THANK YOU guys.

What is "ace?"

I was diagnosed with UC for 3 years before it was discovered to be Crohn's, and have had more GI bleeding then I want to remember. Some of my other meds have caused dark urine, so I was wondering what "ace" was. I may have experience with that.

dark urine and blood in the urine are two very different things.  Many things cause dark urine:  many drug and vitamins, as well as kidney disorders that concentrate the urine.  Blood in the urine is a very worrisome thing-  it it often caused by a GI bleed, of which you are probably aware with your condition.  it is usually accompanied  by anemia. How is you H & H (hemoglobin/hematocrit)?

I've seen this constantly.  Make sure to drink alot of water and a glass of cranberry juice every day.  The Lortabs seemed to cause the dark urine, more so than the hydrocodone I took.  I believe that the Lortabs are harder to break down and the dark urine is more from the kidneys rather than the liver.
