Does this sould like herior or morphin use?

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read,

This past week I stayed with a friend who has been in recovery for a very long time and out a bit too.  Recently he has been in for about 2 years.  He prefers opiates but has been addicted to other drugs such as cocaine and crack. I have suspected and confronted him a month or so back b/c I thought he had been high on morphine- which he had easy access to.  He said he though he must be having a stroke.  He went to the er and they found nothing.  They said there was a chance it was i TIA but were not sure.  He had been caring for his mother who was on liquid morphine.  His mother has now passed and we were sharing a hotel room.  We both woke up had coffee, we'd both been up for about 1 and half-hours.  He went to shower and get ready.  I heard him sniffing, and coughing and then gagging- I know he does this when he brushes his teeth sometimes but it sounded like he was throwing up.  I joked with him ask are you dying in there or what...  I get ready and then I find him in bed lying on his side.  I'm shocked b/c we were meeting people downstairs for brunch, so I say what are you doing? He mumbles that he is just going to rest a minute.  Then I ask him a few other simple question (at this point I'm very suspicious) and his answers are either totally off topic or a total a mumble.  He is also moaning a bit.  I really freaked out and went to meet our friends. I just told them that he had gone back to bed.  They think that I over react when it comes to his weird behaviors. My dad is an addict so I do know a bit about some drugs, not morphine or heroine.  Anyway, he came downstairs after I sent someone else up after another hour or little more.  He then got ready and seemed normal. The rest of time we were together he seem ok too.

Any thoughts...

Thanks,

Jamie

well I hate to say it, but he does act like hes gassed up on something and the "oh,I took a valuim" story comes offf as a smoke screen.  almost like hes shooting up still, often they nod off for awhile....then are fine.

Is hes scratching himself alot?

no when he is sober he is not messed up.  he does smoke but the going back to bed and I asked where did you put those sock to him and his response was " JJ will open it for you" after that it was just mumbles and I know no JJ.  He had been in the bed for like maybe a minute tops not long enough to have fallen to sleep.  and the moaning was while he was lying in the bed. And we were meeting like 10 people downstairs.

I know it is hard to help when this is all I've got.   Thanks a bunch!!!

He always starts mouth, snort then shoot/ smoke.  He can cover for months and months before the closest to him start to notice.  He has has a bunch of health probs that he attributes everything too.  He did admitted that he took valium the other day and felt like he was telling me this to make it look like that was the worst thing he'd done in a while.  He is in AA and very active, so even valium is a no no in his world.

Does the first post sound like someone who has used morphine or herione?

addicts are good a lying and covering up, so its hard to tell from your story.

but you said he has easy access to morphine..........was he shooting it up and  did he shoot up the coke,in the past?
