Is there as a safe way to detox at home from fiorcet

Hi,
I have severe migraines & due to familey stroke potential (high) & the fact that I had TIA's I can no longer take any imetrex (vaso dilators) type medications. In short, I am addicted, & my spouse is not the type that would understand. Our marriage is on a tight rope at the moment for a number of reasons, (plus a pre nup) I've thought of telling my neurologist about this but I'm not sure that he/she would be understanding especially, since they are prescribing them legitimately.

I have tried reducing my intake & by the time I was down to 1 pill, several times- I was hyper, really irritatable, & so depressed. I also used to have seizures when I was really young until I was 17, I'm 49 so it's been a long time. I've just read a lot about seizures with barbiturate withdrawal.

I just want to not be on this drug any more, any tips???

Nicky--  Yes,you could taper at home but I don't feel right helping you with that.  You need to taper very slowly over time.  Given your family and medical history,I'm worried about you!

It's great that you don't want to be on this drug any more!  Call and speak with your Neurologist as soon as possible. He/she can help you taper and treat any symptoms that come up.  Seizures can occur when this drug is abruptly stopped.

How much and how long have you taken this?  Is the Neuro. the only place you have gotten them?
