Feeling so blah today

I'm on day 9 clean off of oxycodone.  And I feel so blah and down and sad.  I thought things were getting better, but they aren't.  PLEASE tell me it's gonna get better....I stumbled on some old, old post from 2003 where people were talking about 24 months until the fog lifted.  PLEASE say that's not true.  I used the oxy for about 15 months, but the first 6-7 months, it was just a couple 5mg percocets a day.  It only got out of hand about 3 months ago.  Will it take 24 months to feel better??? I'm just having a bad day.

i do not believe for one second it takes 24 months for the fog to lift. at this point the worst of the physical w/d's should be over, but the depression and no energy seems to be the part that lasts a bit longer. everyone is different, but it seems that around a month the biggest positive changes start to happen and that fog begins to lift. this does not mean you will feel horrible for a month, you will start to see improvements very soon so don't be discouraged. you need to accept the fact that it takes time to heal and i promise it will get better. hang in there, 9 days is great and you should be very proud. i bet you will be posting how good you feel in a couple days. keep posting

Everyday you will feel better i promise!! We all have an off day here and there but if you think about even people who aren't addicts have bad days! Right? That what i tell myself and its very true if you think about it. It just another thing that reminds us that we are returning back to a normal way of life. Good luck to you and stick to it. You are doing great.

First of all 9 days is a big deal,  I've been taking prescription pain killers for 8 yrs.  So I can say I know how you feel.  It got so bad for me that I couldn't walk once when my benzo's and pain lillers both ran out.  I think all addicts have this feeling that everythings OK and we can handle anything, as long as were taking drugs.  Cattalina told me last nite to stay hydrated, so try and drink plenty of water and juices w/o alot of sugar in them.  I'll pray for you,

Thanks everyone.  It's just tough....I'm not a patient person by nature.  And I'm just fed up with feeling so out of sorts.  I'm trying to move and eat, and take my vitamins.  Thanks again for the encouragement.

9 days is great but don't get discouraged. It took me a few weeks to feel better. It will get better though, i promise you. Just try to do all that you can to help your body and mind heal. Eat right, take vitamins and exercise. It really helps.

Hugs,
Melissa

Good job on 9 days. I read ur post on another persons site, and I would like you to go to my story, I posted today. It is under just joined. I thought I would be the last person addicted as well. Well, thought we could chat sometime. I really don't know anyone on this site, but it feels good to know I am not the only one with the dark secret. girly44

Congrats on day 9.  You are doing great.  You will start to feel better soon.  Are you getting any exercise and taking vitamins??  Those together really make you feel alot better.  Get out and go for a walk if you can.  It gets our endorphins moving.  Just keep hanging in there. 24 months seems rather extreme to me as i am at 80 days and i think the fog has lifted.  Stay strong                       sara
