Fentanyl patch info, withdrawals, fentanyl hell

I'm writing this in the hope that it keeps some people from getting on fentanyl. This drug will ruin your life in so many ways. You may think in the beginning that its the best thing ever for your pain. It's not so bad when your first on it but after about 6 months your on a downward slope. You will build up tolerance quickly and need more and more and more for it to work. Not to mention once your tolerance increases you start having withdrawals before you change your next patch. You heart races, you lose your hair, your depressed, have anxiety, your tired, lose the ability to enjoy life. Just to name a few things. Fentanyl will slowly drain every bit of life out of you until there is nothing left.
If you try to taper down or even stop fentanyl the withdrawals are beyond horrible. Fentanyl is the second worst thing to get off of. My doctor talked me into never knew what kind of hell I was getting myself into. Once you realize how bad it is, it's to late your already dependent in it. Please please please spread the word!!!! Unless your on your death bed don't start this!!! Before you start any medication please do your research and make sure you know what your getting yourself into. Some doctors don't have our best interest at heart for different reasons. It's up to you to protect yourself!! I didn't do enough research so
I want to make sure I make others aware so they don't have to suffer like I did.

hi:

I'm on a long slow taper from +400 mg of oxy -- down to 297 mg now. Dr talked me into trying "the Patch" -- `the 100 size. I tried it for 3 days it scared me 1/2 to death. I went back to the Dr and we had a long talk and he agreed to let me taper on the oxy.

Thanks to folks like you for posting these warnings, I did not jump from the fryer to the frying pan!

Good luck to you and thank you again for posting the warnings ..

Oh wow!! I didn't know that about ambien. Thanks for sharing!! I think it's important we spread awareness about medications. The doctors sure wont give you the truth and the commercials ha!! So it's up to us that have suffered to make sure others don't fall into the trap. I hope your sleep eventually completely returns.

I completely agree with you and I know how you feel. I felt the same way about Ambien. I got on it and had no idea what I was getting myself into. All I knew was you slept soooo beautifully and peacefully, and then you woke up sooo rested with no hangover what so ever; ready to rip through the day with all that energy from sleeping so well. I didn't find out how badly I messed up until I wanted off of it. It took me from the middle of March 2010 until August 8, 2010 to taper off of it. And I STILL have trouble sleeping 3 years later.
