Finally free of Codiene

Hi all..
I am finally free of codeine  and valium after abusing them for over 12 years. I had been taking around 50-60 mg Valium and over  1152mg or just over 1 Gram of codiene each day not too mention the 18 grams of Ibuprofen in the Nurofen +. I detoxed from the valium in February which took me 7 weeks and was hell. I detoxed from the codeine over 7 days and have been clean and sober for one whole week. I can still feel a little ****** but the joy of being free from drugs far out weighs the negatives.  It can be done. Keep telling yourself that what you feel is just a feeling and it will pass. Have hot baths with  Epsom Salts, force yourself to stretch your legs every few hours, pick up the phone and talk to someone.

Hey Dave congrats for breaking 2 huge addictions that was a lot of codeine...I dont know if you guys got N/A OR A/A down under like we do here in the states but we recommend it highly to prevent relapse as addicts we need to change the very way we think to stay clean
both programs offer recovery care and will teach you  the skills and give you the tools to help stay clean the detox is only the beginning good luck with your recovery and God bless....Gnarly

Hi, Dave, and best of luck with this one. It's really surprising how many end up "Back on The Chain Gang" after enduring the w/d's, but no-one's really figured that one out yet ... "coping skills," "instant gratification," "neurotransmitter deficits," blah, blah, blah ...

Hope you're not feeling to end-of-the-world during these hours and days ahead. Here's something to keep you occupied, however briefly: I'm quite interested in your Big Crawl out of the benzo pit. How'd you do it, and could you share some of your experience?

Much appreciated, and get better,

Congrats Dave. Gives me hope I can do it too. I hate something like a drug having such a hold over me.  I forgot that I take 2 or 3 Ibuprofin liquid caps also with them to try to stop pain.
Good job.

Good job Dave.  That's what I say too, keep telling yourself that the pain is temporary.  And you're right, it does feel good to be done with the pills.  Wow 12 years is a long time.  I just saw someone on here earlier that said they needed to hear success stories ... that it could be done.  Thanks for posting.
