Oh sweetheart, I can't say I know how you feel, because I don't...... but I can tell you that altho we as parents, or a friend, haven't experienced addiction, doesn't mean we can't love and support you unconditionally. I don't know if you have tried to talked to your family, perhaps they may be a bit more understanding than you think??... I know my daughter has hated herself and judged herself more harshly than any of her family has ... I may hate my daughter's addiction, but I love her unconditionally. She is not her addiction.. Please know you deserve a full life, and you cant have that on vic's... and yes hun you are going to start feeling a whole lot of emotions, that have been numbed by the drug for a long time. But you know what?? That is real life... we all hurt..and have pain or hard times... but we do what we have to without being numb.. It just makes the good and happiness of our lives that much better! :)
Please know I am thinking of you, and I do care.... again, good luck with your meeting.
Thank you so much for your kindness. I do not get much of that around here, as no one in my family or friends have much experience with this outside of me. It is sooo hard to feel this alone in it, and it can be tempting to go back just so i can feel normal and ok again. When someone takes the time to write something like that to me, it means so much to me, and it keeps me going. Thank you forever!! Luv, Jacky
Please follow-up with a phone call after you check on line for the meeting you want to attend, sometimes the web sites are a bit outdated, and I do not want you to go to meeting that may not exist anymore!! There are a lot more options for AA than NA, please know you can attend either, regardless of your DOC.. My daughter was/is an opiate addict, however the meeting or "home group" she is most comfortable with is an AA group.
Congrats to you for seeking aftercare, it truly is such a vital element in remaining sober, as you grow stronger everyday! I am so very proud of you for reaching out and seeking the support required to stay healthy and strong!!
My best wishes to you, and good luck with your first meeting.... It can be a bit scary at first, however I think you will find the security and support well worth your effort. Also, it may take a few different meetings to find the place you are most comfortable, but there is one that is the right fit for you!!
Good for you hun, please let us know how your meeting goes..
Thank you, i will try that right away! I appreciate your response, --- Jacky
Just type NA or AA meeting search into Google and you'll get a meeting search engine. They're pretty easy to use. Or, you can call the service numbers posted on their website and ask.
