I don't understand why members are not allowed to post taper schedules but are allowed to recommend going cold turkey. If we're not allowed to play doctor by saying how a person should taper then the same should be applied before telling someone how to go CT.  It seems with the amount and detail of some medical advice given, that it's bizarre that tapering schedules can't be talked about.

Was hoping that maybe you would be willing to also email me a taper schedule. As I have posted in an earlier post I have been taking vicodene-12 a day for about nine months due to a serious accident. Before the accident I had been taking 8 a day for severe disk problems in my back and neck. Was able to taper myself down to 2 a day within about 2 months. I am now trying to taper again. I have lowered my dosage every three days and am now down to 7. I do not feel bad yet but I also realize I am still taking a large dose. Any advice of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I recommend as fast as you can without relapsing with a larger dose :-)

There are so many things that come in to play when tapering, for example, certain people have a lot of daily obligations and coming off of large dosages quickly can cause problems or increase the chances of relapse if you taper too fast. If you taper too slow, your chances are higher for relapse because each time you take your medication, people typically have a higher chance of wanting to take more medication vs. the taper amount, which is a mental struggle.
