On Vicodin after oral surgery

I had emergency oral surgery and was given Vicodin for pain & antibiotics for the infection. I was only given 21 pills, thank goodness. I plan on getting back on the wagon when the pain is gone. Hopefully I won't have the wd's again.

I took my last Vic last night and only used three pills out of the bottle. Those babies are living in the sewer system. Actually, I feel good this morning, hopefully there won't be much of the wd's again.

What a bummer about the oral surgery - I can relate; have had that happen a couple times myself, not fun at all.  I hope you start feeling better real soon.  As far as the Vikes go, in my opinion, if you need them for the pain then take them, but only as you really need them.  Ibuprophen/Motrin works really well for oral pain too - maybe you can try that at some point when the really acute pain starts to ease up a bit.  You are right about the only 21 thing.  As soon as you feel like the pain can be controlled by OTC stuff I would flush the rest.  The least you take, the least likey you will have w/d's (or at least minimize them).

Most of all - hope you feel better soon.  You worked hard to get off the pills so recently.  Keep posting here, that will help keep you on the right track I think.  Good luck!
