Gonna ask my doc for Suboxone tommorow

by ggin35, Jun 18, 2007 12:00AM
I know there are a lot of negative things I have heard from you guys and others about Suboxone but I think I need to try it for myself. I want off these stupid pain pills and I can't go through the horrible withdrawal again! Anyway, I have plans to see my in laws this weekend. Should I worry about any side effects from this stuff? I don't want my in-laws to see me in any withdrawal or anything. Please tell me what to expect! Thanks guys. Love you bunches. Ggin35

Your symptoms of w/d on the Suboxone will all depend on what dose of meds you were on and the dosage of Suboxone that they put you on. You will want to take the lowest dose that will give you the effect you can handle and then wean off it as quickly as possible. Most of the ppl I have talked to have gotten a good effect as far as it controlling their w/d's. However you will most likely end up going through some kind of w/d in the end. I wish you the very best.
God Bless,
M

To: What I take now
What I'm taking right now is around 5 or 6 (sometimes less) 7.5/200 vicoprofen daily. I also take ativan but I will deal with that one later. Oh, can you take ativan while on suboxone? Of that I take around 2mgs daily. Thanks again! Ggin35

Yes you can take the ativan while on Sub. I wouldn't think thst on the dose of meds that you are on that you should have a hard time finding a dose suitable for you on the Sub. Just get off them as quickly as you can. I really do hope this goes well for you and will be praying for you.
God Bless,
M
If I can do anything else just ask

I think you can take ativan when on the sub but you wont feel the need too... I know this is a tall story but... well lets just say, you will feel that it is a miracle drug...  The dox say to wait until you are into wd's from the vics and then take it.... I'm not sure why this is... I waited about 18 hours, after taking 10 ES vics and worked amazingly well.  I was put on 4mgs X 4 times a day...16mg total a day and that was about the midrange of what he was doing at the detox.... FLaddict talked me into much less and 2mgs at first the 2mgs a couple hours later was the ticket outta hell.  I'm not the guy to talk to about getting off of it.  because after 2 weeks of completely off, I went back on because of extenuating circumstances were driving me outtamymind.  So I am on and it is like handing my life back on a silver platter... getting off is something I will accomplish after my,,, well lets just say I'm in some trouble.  I have a major DUI pending and they are counting 10 years back for priors and I might have to do some jail time.... dunno yet... take the amount of sub that works.
My wife once took a sliver like 1mg and she said she felt weird... I think that it was too little but I am not a doc so take that for what it's worth

Let us know how things are going and get all the other stuff like clonidine and the aminos and ativan will help in a pinch... .

Thank you so much for your advice! I will tell you tommorow how it went and we can share war stories while I'm on it. I know I say it all the time but what would I do without this forum?? I would be going through a lot more hell if it wasn't for all of you guys. Talk to you tommorow. (((hugs))) Ggin35

just FYI someone wrote this on another site:

bupenephrine also known as Suboxone is indeed the miracle drug of today- Together it works with Naxolone an opiate Antagonist. my husband was at 30 mg of methadone when they put him on Suboxone, they want you at the lowest dose of methadone possible so that you will have less withdrawl. The catch is, most rehabs put you on suboxone for only a week, then send you out to the street feeling like you just want to die- with methadone sometimes it takes 6 months to a year to get out of your system. Suboxone is safe and should be given for a longer period of time. My husband came out of rehab feeling ok, until a day or two later, in which he got severly depressed, we went to our family doctor and put him back on the suboxone, -within 3 hours after taking it, his body pain was gone and he was feeling Normal again mentally. Only 4 mg did the trick. Thank God for this. Keep this in mind, you Cannot take any opiate derivatives while taking suboxone. It blocks all opiate effects, thus blocking any Europhoria you may feel if taking (vicodin, oxycontin, heroin, etc... ) In this sense overdose would occur tryin to get the Europhia you simply wont get. It is like anabuse in a sense. Although the bupenephrine is an opiod in itself to help with the body pain, the Naxolone component blocks the effects of the "high". Hope this makes sense. Some have to be on Suboxone for months>to years>- with that I say "so be it" if that is what it takes to stay clean, along with Meetings for the psychological part. Take care -good luck

fish- I think that's about the jest of it... I don't wanna be on for a year though!

i was recently incarcerrated for 32 days and the jail "doc" abruptly stopped my clonazepem (3+ mgs/day) and 165 mg. methadone; along with my psych meds and others.   I had 2 srokes and 4 seizures while in jail!!   Ended up in intensive care.  My charges were dismissed and I was FINALLY sent home.....SICK!!!!  I was released with zero meds and have resorted to "old friends" for relief and doctor shopping.  I have had a seizure since being home and ended back in the E.R.  My hospital records say that these problems were "most likely caused by "acute, abrupt benzo/mehadone withdrawal.
i have been taking suboxen i "found" at 8mgs/2x day for past 3 days and now a doc has prescribed vicodin....I assume i do not dare take them at this point, correct!?
I am consulting with an attornry re: the poor medical care i received while in jail.  I have documentation from the hospital they took me to, from my out-patient psych. anmd my new med. doc saying the gramal seizures wee caused by the abrupt stopping of my meds.  ANY ONE in their right mind knows you cannot abruptly stop such meds!!  What the hell was this jail doc thinking; or rather, NOT thinking!??  I have ongoing medical problems due to this.....
Anyone out there have any advice, comments, suggestions....???  ALL feedback would be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks.  ***@****
