Got to day 10 ... took 4 Vicodins Yesterday ....Pain was intolerable

Hi all..... I have been doing really good .... Tuesday ( yesterday ) was day 10 of C/T W/D from 240mgs Oxycontin per day and 60mg Oxycodone per day.  I live in New York and it has been raining for days and days ..... I was in so much pain yesterday that nothing helped Aprin, Tylenol , Advil etc..... I suffered all day just couldnt get comfortable no matter what I did... when my Husband got home he could tell I was really suffering ( he is in recovery 15 years + ) He said to me ...... your being silly take a Vicodin your obviously in horrible pain.   I sat up from the couch .. started to cry ( and walked upstairs and took 2 5/500 vicodins ) I felt so defeated :(  I came back downstairs got back on the heating pad and in 20 minutes I was pain free.  That was at 8:00pm last night ...... then at 5:00am this morning  there it was again the unrelenting pain ... so I got up and took 2 more 5/500 Vicodins and went back to bed.  Its now about 1:00pm .... and I feel so guilty that I took the 4 of them.  I didn't do it to feel "good" I did it because the pain was intolerable.   I don't want to keep beating myself up about it.   Can someone give me some words of encouragement ... I could really use it    Thanks Von

The first ninity days are the worst then you will be suprised to find out your pain was probably worse on the meds then off but you were on alot and your body wants its fix so that is going to make your pain seem even worse .
My first suggestion is you should hand over the pills to hubby if you need them he can give them to you .

I have deal with cronic pain and some days are hard but with time it really does get better .I can tell you were on meds for pain what pain do you have and what made you desiced to go off them?

ohh BTW you wont go back threw wd but I would get the meds in a lockbox is they are going to be in the house.

No...I don't think you'll have withdrawals again. Just don't think about it. You tried everything else to no avail.Sometimes the pain is just intractable...it's a fact of life.

Don't worry and I'm glad you're better!

there are some ppl that have to have pain meds, they have real pain. i admire your honesty. its tough to stay clean when you are in constant pain. maybe you can ask a doctor about other methods of living pain free. i wish i could control my usage but can not, if i have them i take them whether i need them or not.
don't beat yourself up. take it one day at a time.
