H.A.L.T.

This is not a question but a little trick a friend and therapist told me a while back that I would like to share with you guys. It has helped me when dealing with cravings. When i suddenly feel like i need to get high or i need a drink, i tell myself: Halt!
what do I feel? am I:
H = Hungry?
A = Angry?
L = Lonely?
T = Tired?

when getting sober from drugs or alcohol (especially at the beginning) these four basic feelings: hungry, angry, lonely and tired... can be very powerful triggers... by understanding what they are for what they are, we've got a better chance in controlling these cravings....

H.A.L.T. is great advise we often think cravings just come out of nowhere and sometimes they do but you will find many related to H.A.L.T so be mindful and ask your self the questions

thats a great comment to share, i learned that in AA, abd it is so very true. thank you for taking the time to share that, and give people tools needed for sobriety. i know for myself, all those little sayings is what really helped, i have lost alot of concentration ( go figure) from so much drug and alcohol abuse,,,, and i guess age????,,,,LOL  anyway, there is so much info out there, and sometimes it takes one person to comment on something he/she has learned and another person catches on, its amazing....so again, thank you
