HELP!! Sick from SUB!!

I took my first dose of Suboxone this morning, and my last dose of oxy last night at about 9 pm. I waited the 12 hours I was told, but after taking it I am feeling the worst withdrawl I have ever felt. I have to be at work in an hour and I don't know what to do. If I take a little bit of oxy will it help this go away?/?

Paco ,
If you can get into a center I would so take it they really can help in many diffrent ways and they can make you the most comfortable .Honeslty a few months of the pain meds with some exersise and vitimans you would be sruprise how much better you may feel.I deal with cronic pain as well . I feel less pain now then I ever did when using good luck let us know what happens.

I am on oxycontin 60mg/day and oxycodone 45mg twice/day for a grand total of 150 mg/day for teriible low back pain esp. tailbone and have trouble sitting.  This dose barely relieves the pain.  I had to quit work and am applying for disability, moved home and all the pain docs here say accdg. to my mri and size I don't have that much pain ( a real bite) and the current doc who is good enough to prescribe this amt. wants to do suboxone as the narcotics are stimulating more receptors to ask for more drug.  I feel no high, just pain and was on sl. more before.  My dad (I'm 56) is thinking a nice clinic in CA with hospital controlled withdrawal, pain clinic, chronic pain group and alternative therapy which I definitely believe in (we tried all the other options before-I have been prescribed all drugs by pain management doc).  Do you think coming off this amt. is going to be awful and if I can't take other drugs due to seizures, migraines and kidney (NSAIDS) is worth it?  I really have no alternative and I would at least get out of rainy climate.  I'm afraid I will just be at square 1 after all this.  I realize I am lucky to even have the option. Thanks.  I'm having a miserable day and it's hard not to take more.

i went through preciptated WD's...my doctor told me to wait 4 hours and try again, i think it will work for him because he is on short acting opiods...it took me alot longer because of  the methadone...what do you think?    you transitioned off oxies right?  maybe i shouldnt be saying anything because MY experience was so different and not the norm...LOL?  either way he needs to call his doctor, thats the best advice...

did you get the suboxones from your dr?  i would at least wait to take another sub in the morning like stacy suggested ... more of the opiate is not going to help you ...

Taking more Oxy will NOT help.  Suboxone completely eliminates the effect of opiates, and it is designed so that if people relapse, you won't get anything out of the painkillers until the Sub has been out of your system for three days.  You absolutely can't start the Sub until your body is in moderate withdrawal, which means you will have had to feel some pain and discomfort first.  If your last Oxy dose was at 9 last night, and you went to sleep and woke up and took the Sub, you haven't even felt any withdrawal yet.  The reason you need to wait as long as possible is because if you take Sub while there are still any traces of opiates in your system, the Sub will compete with those opiates and attack the receptors, causing you to feel the precipitated withdrawal that you felt.  I'm not sure what to do at this point, as I'm not sure if taking more Sub will even help.  Only your doctor will know.  You may have to stop taking everything all over again, and let your body withdrawal again.  But as long as you haven't taken anymore Oxy, you may just have to tough it out for today, and take the Sub dose tomorrow morning.

no..the oxy will not help you at this point...no turning back now hun...the sub will only continue to compete with the oxy...call your doctor...if this was me...i would take more sub at the 18 hour mark  or even now...but this isnt me so i wouldnt dare tell you what to do in case you get sicker (which i doubt at this point)

take another 4mgs...that should help...if it doesnt help you...then you are definately in precipitated withdrawals, and will have to tuff it out for today, (possibly tomorrow too (not sure of that))  but if you get some releif from the 4mgs...wait an hour, you will know if its helping...if it does appear to help..after an hour you can take another 4mgs...you are dissovling it under your tongue...right?   i ammhere if you have any more questions...i got stuck with precipitated withdrawals also...it sucks!!  but dont let it discourage you...

How long does he have to wait before he takes his next suboxone?I'd guess 24 hours, but I'm no expert.

12 hours isn't long enough, I think. I'm not sure what you can do but I know a few of the sub folks are on right now. But I think you'll have to call in sick. Did you call the doc yet and ask him?
