thomas recipe

Hey all.  Thanks for all of your support.  I have tried to scroll down and find The Thomas Recipe and can't locate it.  Would someone please let me know exactly where to look or perhaps post it again?  It sounds like it really helps.  Thanks a lot.  And Mr. Mike thanks for responding to my message yesterday, I was in a pretty bad way.  Restarting my struggle again today.......

you are posting to a very old thread, it might get "lost in the shuffle"... you should re-post this and your last question to a new thread.  sometimes the time of day really makes a difference... many of those on EST are already gone for the night...

i never thought about the milk of magnesium trick- and I'm gonna google that "soap in the bed" trick...

I think the thomas recipe during a taper would be fine.. haven't done a taper myself, but from what I read, with each "cut" you make you are going thru "mini withdrawals" so the herbs/minerals/tricks would benefit you too.  I am taking a mega mineral complex and the L-tyrosine.  I think they help. i need to get something for the insomnia though- it's still a struggle each and every night for my hubby and I (were 34 days clean). GL to you and I hope you will re-post to a new thread._rebel

Would taking anything from the Thomas Recipe help ease WDs while doing a slow taper off of Tramadol?
I've spent months tapering from 200 mgs a day to around 62 mgs which is where I have just stayed at for the past 3 weeks because the effects I have been feeling have not started to diminish yet. They are now the worse they've been so far. I had been tapering off a small portion every 7-10 days. After each taper for three days I would get some WD effects then they would diminish .This time, it just stayed the same. It's weird, I start to feel strange and uncomfortable feelings around 8pm shortly after taking my last and smallest dose of the day.
I'm at 2/3rds of a 50 mg tablet  at 8am, 1/3 of a 50mg tablet at 2pm and about half of a 3rd of a 50 mg tab at 8pm. That's when these feelings start coming on the most.
I feel physical anxiety racy chest, ache in my joints  legs, arms, and hands, some shortness of breath and itchy sensations in my skin especially in my left shoulder blade area( itchy/burny). My upper eyelids all of a sudden will look and feel a little swollen or hooded and feel like allergy eyes..
This scenario repeats every evening.
In bed I do have some RL, but am taking Milk of Magnesia. which seems to alleviate that. This is a quick acting cheap form of  liquid magnesium ,along with a potassium pill. I also swear by" the soap in the bed trick " which helps against leg cramps. Google those words in quote and you will be amazed at what you learn about this trick. It works!
I know this Thomas Recipe says for Cold Turkey detox but has any taper people put some of it to use?...Or is there other options to help with getting through a slow taper?
Should I stay at my current level until I feel better before cutting more off my pills or is this now just the way it will be?
I posted two days ago for the first time with questions but have not gotten any replys from that post.
Would appreciate some feedback and advise.

It seems that a lot of people have trouble finding the "Thomas recipe" in the archives, so here's an alternative way to find it:

The Recipe is posted in full at http://pub37.ezboard.com/fthenewaddictionmedicineforumfrm14

You'll need to go to www.ezboard.com first to create a GLOBAL account (free), then look up The New Addictions Medicine Forum. The Forum maintains a separate section just for the recipe. One caveat:

While I used 4,000mg of L-Tyrosine to recover after the worst of the WD was past, I have come to realize that this is a rather high amount and may be more than most people need. I would like to amend that passage of the recipe to say, "start with 1500mg of L-Tyrosine and moderate the dose up or down depending upon results. And, as I said, I recommend using the other ingrediants of the recipe to get through the first 3-4 days of WD before using the L-Tyro and B6.

If you still can't find the recipe, write to me at:

***@**** and I'll try to get the recipe text to you. Good luck to all embarking on this trying voyage ...

The l-tyr does give you tons of energy. I've found if I use a formula that is N-Acetyl L-tyrosone, it absorbs better (and it's at a lower dose). Just my experience.

Samar is right about moderating the L-Tyrosine, which, by the way, must be taken with at least 100mg of B6 (on empty stomach) to facilitate absorption. I used 4,000mg of L-Tyro because I was coming off a 10-year, 75 Vic per day habit. But I suggest everyone start small with the L-Tyro and work up. Also, people assume they should hit the L-Tyro on the first day of WD. Wrong. The Valium is not just for sleep, but for keeping you so zonked you don't hit the streets and score. Take it round the clock for the first few days at whatever dosage keeps you in the house and stops you from going nuts. In these first days, the L-Tyro can be counter-productive because it is a highly energizing substance that can result in the jitters if you use it too soon in the WD cycle. Your tools for getting through the first few days are LOTS of Valium (or Klonopin), LOTS of Immodium, vitamins (key ones being C and B12) and full-spectrum mineral supplements (key ones being lots of zinc and mag). Environment should be one of seclusion where you don't have to put up a "normal" front to family members or some ***** authority figure. Add the hot baths morning, noon and night (or more if it takes more), and you've got your initial 3-4 day WD kit. The L-Tyro should be used after these initial days, not during. L-Tyro combined with zinc, mag, C and B6 will help your organism restore balance to its neurotransmitter soup, giving you energy and, more importantly, a dash of optimism and, hey, even a dose of self-respect. The Recipe is posted in full at http://pub37.ezboard.com/fthenewaddictionmedicineforumfrm14. You'll need to go to www.ezboard.com first to create a GLOBAL account (free), then look up The New Addictions Medicine Forum. Copy this fast if you're interested, as I suspect the admins here will delete this post as soon as they sober up and notice it LOL.

May we all find peace,

Thomas

Even if you take the recipe, you're going to suffer WD. It will help with the energy level and the mental stuff, though. I've tried tapering, cold turkey, and detoxing using a "cocktail" of prescribed meds to mute the WD symptoms, and the last way is by far the best for me. Many people can taper and succeed; I never could as I'd just take the pills. How are you right now?

GOD
you can keep posting here.... I don't think they moderate anything now since Dr. Steve is gone.

Keep in touch from time to time, Thomas!

Hi Abbygirl and welcome. I don't know what you can and can't take with Hep. If you can take these vitamins and supplements, I'd say do so, but check with your doctor first. For me, they work wonders on mood, energy level and general outlook. Are you quitting the pills now, or have you already?

The recipe cost me over $100.  But the good thing is that I bought it at GNC.  They have a money back guarantee, so I believe that since I cannot take the recipe, I will try to get my money back.

I think I will keep the multivitamin for shits and giggles though.  I need to have some sort of a vitamin in me!  LOL

This recipe..I don't know if its just this country or if its the way it is everywhere, does anyone find this recipe really expensive? L-Tyrosine alone here in ottawa is $30.00 for 100 tabs/500mg. 5htp is almost the same,I know our dollar sucks but 100 tabs in this recipe won't last too long! what are the prices like in the U.S.? Maybe I can mail order them since I have a U.S. dollar account in case our dollar goes "belly-up"

The recipe is:
L-Tyrosine 8 500mg capsules, on an empty stomach (my edit here..this was too much for me, gave me a bad stomach ache and made me feel jittery, but some folks need this much. Test what works for you)
B-complex
Hot baths to help with muscle aches
Valium to help with sleep, but be careful to not take it too long or you will get addicted to it.
Multimineral tablet that includes zinc, magnesium, and manganese, as well as calcium.

I added 5 htp and SAM-e, that help with the depression quite a bit.

That's it in a nut shell. I have the whole version Thomas wrote but it is on my other computer. It is reprinted in a thread below though, I'm pretty sure.  (someone else posted this)

Good Luck!
