day 19 and finallly feeling good

Hi everyone, today is day 19 without opiates, which i was on for 4 years, I finally feel pretty good, i had alot of stomach isues, i dont know if it is because i am on dialysis that it took so long. still having some sleep problems, but i am never going back to opiates. i have sat here many nights wondering why i let myself get in this place. i went to a pain mangement dr for bad back problems, he is avery good dre it was ME  who couldnt control the amount i would take. the funny thing is since i have stopped my back isnt really that bad, so i guess i am lucky in that respect, so anyone out there that is strating this great journey stay strong it is very rough but it is so worth it, and i want to thank everyone who gave me words of support and your prayers.....brian

congrats!! im on day 4 myself, going on day 5!! i felt like complete **** for about the first 2 days with common w/d symptoms, woke up yesterday and didnt crave a hydro finally!..

i was on about 75mg of hydrocodone a day in 5 seperate 15mg doses for about a year. my consumption fluctuated and even got up to 100mg somedays, even started doing oxycontin and oxycodone for awhile in substitution for some of the hydro. i got arrested and knew it was time to change, weened down to 30mg a day after about 4 days than quit cold turkey from that. i agree with the "ghost pain" your talking about while we were actually on the painkillers!! life is so much better now, and ive found good marijuana, food and other things have really helped me out!!

i could still REALLY use the support though, please see my first thread for my entire story - http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/723435

sorry to hijack your thread, just sharing.. congrats!!

congrats!!  i am soooo proud of you!!

i was taking hydrocodone for my arthritis pain...  since i stopped them cold turkey 42 days ago i too have not had any pain either that has warranted the need for a pain pill.  i have had very very mild pain here and there but nothing where i would need a pain killer like when i first started taking them.  i am soooo glad to be free of the pills too!!

congrats again!!!

Brian:
WOOHOO!!!! Congrats!  You are doing awesome! They say that when we take pain pills too often our bodies actually end up hurting more than when we didn't take them.  It does seem strange but it's seems to be a real thing!  Anyway, I'm proud of you!  You're doing great!   Hugs, Janet

Congratulations!!!!  I am with you.  I won't ever walk this path again.  You are correct that opiates cause "ghost" pain, (aka: phantom pain) so that the pain you are taking them for is amped up.  I am at day 13, starting to get clearer, the fog is lifting, my motivation returning and my memory improving.  GOOD JOB!!!  Good for you, , and I applaud you for coming so far in your journey.
