Has anyone heard of kratom?

So I am now about 100 or so days clean from a huge oxy addiction, I have been checking the boards here daily to see if I can help anyone out who is in need.  I know most people come on here when they are in early stages of WD's and needing support.  Recently I heard of a plant called kratom that is supposed to help with WD's.  I did a little research and found that it works somewhat the same way as opiates do, although not nearly as strong, and has been used to help lessen withdrawals.  I am just putting it out there as a possible alternative to those considering methadone or suboxone which I consider to be even worse than oxy, percs, norcos, vicoden, etc.  Im interested in seeing what others think about this!

Some of the ones had white hair and blue outfits.  I thought the outfits were cute...

I totally forgot about the ones for pencils !!!   Yes!!   We weren't allowed to have those in school (looked too much like the nuns,I guess) but we snuck them in!!  A million years ago...now I feel like an old troll!!!

If they had red hair their outfit was green or blue, the green hair ones had yellow outfits!!  I even had one that went on the end of my pencil!!  Now that you mention it i looked a bit like them too during my years of using(face wise mind you!)

Oh no Vicki, they removed one of your comments before I could read it this morning! I can only imagine lol.

I say a lot of smart @ss things sometimes, but I will forever be grateful for those who were on here when I wandered in looking for a way out. Hard to believe that was almost 2 years ago. And even though you got here a little after me, you help a lot of people and no amount of sarcasm on my part can discount that. I just enjoy a little banter here and there ;)

H, I was truly at my bottom after 5 years of heavy oxy and fentanyl abuse, and I decided to climb up and out to save myself, my family and friends, and after a month of going at it the second time I elected to use Sub and with a solid recovery already in place, my life has never been better even before my addition started. So, as you know you have read  many times, there are all sorts of successfull recovery stories with and without "replacement" drugs. We are all entitled to our strong opinions about what works and what does not and that is great you did not need Sub or Kratom. I hope all continues to go well. S...

Vicki: Diva much? lol I think everyone here who sticks around any length of time has had it out with you on a post or two, so I am slightly less surprised at the amount of cynicism in your response :)

I don't agree with any form of substitutive treatment regardless of circumstance, I can't think of many people I know who did more than me or the people I hang out with now that are in recovery, and none of us used subs of any form. When the addict is truly at the bottom they will make the decision to start climbing up, no sub necessary. I needed AA/NA to do it, some people don't. Doing drugs to get off drugs is a massive contradiction in itself and just seems pointless to me.

Hey picky I saw your response to me and didn't even have to put glasses on. I actually used to have to have big bottle glasses but had surgery and the cut open both my eyeballs and made them better. Now no more glasses. Also no more head aches. What torcher it was being strapped to a bed in crucifix position with patches on each eye and towels wrapped around each elbows so I couldn't break free and scratch my eyes. Anyway no more glasses. I still done got no spelling skills though. You are hilarious vicki. God bless vicki.
