Help!! I posted a question and didn't get any responses!

Hey everyone. Sorry for being so impatient but I posted a question awhile ago about taking Meloxicam or Elavil to help with withdrawals from vicodin....does anyone know if either one of these helps or what I can do in order to make this go smoother?? Please let me know.

Hi~  Sorry no one posted yet...it's a hectic time for some folks at this hour.

I don't know if these meds will help you.I doubt it.Can you call the prescibing doctor and ask?
There's no easy way. Many of us just go through it and use otc's for symptomatic relief.
Stock up on food, drinks and vitamins. Read the Thomas Recipe in the health pages.
Good luck to you~

Meloxicam is just an NSAID like Ibuprofen or Celebrex. It might help with some aches and pains. The Elavil might help with the depression aspect, but it would take several weeks to kick in. I wouldn't expect much help from either.

I agree with Ga Guy, but I think the Elavil could possibley help, mostly what it will do is help you sleep. They antidepression part could take weeks to work, but if it is sleep you need that could help.

elavil also helps with pain and it does produce some level of sedation. in that aspect i could see it helping...but as far as helping with the 'gotta have it' feelings, it wouldn't do any good at all. mostly it would be best at helping you sleep. the side effects if tricyclics are often too great for it to be of much use even for sleep, though.

Depending on how much Vicodin you have been taking will make a huge defference in weither or not these drugs will help you. If you are taking a couple a day then yea. If you are taking 8 or more than no. To be honest no NSAID is going to be helpful. The only medicine that helps opiate withdrwal are benzo's, methadone, or suboxone. Doctors can try perscibing you certain thing's but no matter what it is unless it's one of the above meds I listed it's not going to help when you are in full blown withdrawl (withdrawal). Good luck.
