hi liz...i, like you am a 50 year old grandma who has been addicted to pain pills for 30 years, the last 10 being so bad...i've had months of sobriety at a time, and i never feel better..i suffer from severe depression, and i never feel even close to normal unless i have my pills.. i am sick of all this, and decided last week to start suboxone...ive taken it here and there when i didnt have pills and it helps,it actually helps my depression alot...this might not be the route for you, but whatever you decide to do, i wish you luck

Hi Liz welcome to the forum .This place can help .Keep posting stay strong and dont pick up, know mater what.I was on a 3+ year run of dr shopping and using 30-40 pills a day .I stopped C/T and went through crappy withdrawals as well as many others posting on this site. You are not alone .Many people here have walked in your shoes and we know what it is like.I would suggest about 1-2 gallons of water a day hot baths ,steam room or hot showers and stay as busy as possible.Move a mustle change a thought. Any type of exersize is good .Get aftercare AA or NA its only 1 dollar .You will have about 5-7 crappy days with little or no sleep,After that it just keeps getting better .I did this 69 days ago without rehab and kept working, not recomended for everyone but it can be done .Good luck ,I will pray for you.

If you can afford to go the outpatient rehab route...then GO. It will increase our chances considerably. If not, get a plan to detox and set up an aftercare program.

Hi Liz.  Well that's about the dose I was on when I had to quit cold turkey.  I say "had" because we had run out of money and couldnt get any,  Otherwise, I wouldn't have quit probably.  Anyway, my withdrawals were not real great.  You will probably feel really tired, restless, mind racing, hot/cold chills, restless leg syndrome, sneezing, sniffling, maybe a headache, everyone is different, but alot of the symptoms are the same.
It's just the poison leaving your body, maybe 3-4 days.  By day 4 the meds are usually out of your system, then its the mental fight.  If youre strong and tough, you can beat this!  Just make it through the first few days, you probably wont be able to sleep much.  Take lots of hot baths to ease the muscle ache and drink as much fluid as you can,  Also, check out the Thomas Recipe on bottom right here, it has vitamin/mineral therapy that really helps.  I would say get on a multi-vitamin right away if you are not already.  And B-12 will help with the blah feelings.
Good luck to you, keep posting.  Lots of great peeps here to help with this fight.
Keep smiling, it will be hard, but you can do it if you are ready :)

Hi, I am also a mid 40s mom/grandma. I am on day 2 cold turkey off 15 or more norco a day. I don't feel as bad physically as I thought I would. Mentally it's different, I can't stop thinking about them. Hang in there, it only gets better. Keep reading and posting, it has really helped me.
