I wish all I had was a drug addicition

For the past 3 years I have been taking approx 20mgs of Norco's per day..sometimes more..sometimes less.  I do have chronic pain steming from a pinched nerve in my back to food allergies that cause inflamation in my feet, legs, knees and casue confusion and dizziness.

I have tried as best I can to quite these damm pills but never seem to get closer than 1 pill a day.  I guess what I am saying is I AM GIVING UP!  I do need these for some kind of normal life...whatever that is..as I am unable to take asprin and I am allergic to ibuprofen.  IT *****!  I am proud of myself because I have never called my doctor for an early refill and he has asked me several times if I need more or a higher dose.  I only take the 5/325 tabs which are the lowest tabs made.  I dont take them to get high...I take them to get rid of the pain.  Yes...I do get high if I take a whole pill but I try not to.

I've fought the good fight but lost.  Maybe one of these days I will conquer this problem but for the near future it appears I will have to rely on these white devils to get by.  WISH ME LUCK!

Hi Kim.....congratulations 1 year that is amazing and a real milestone for you!!!!!
My son also has 1 year clean from what started out a recreational cocaine use....and led to a very deep addiction for 10 yrs. He went to a 3 month rehab (that or jail)...took a career changing course and a move away from a big city, new job, new lady friend and like I said now its been a year...I thank God everyday to have my son back!
I guess thats why I am so afraid of an oxy addiction with myself.
A question for you, when you first began oxy (or any pain med) did you have a long time getting over side effects? When you first began did you than feel euphoric or low?
I felt really really low and needed a long time building up gradually to the 20mg. Is there a difference here?
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...

There is a difference between being addicted and being dependent. Not everyone who takes pain meds on a daily basis is addicted.Just from what you wrote in this post sounds to  me like you are dependent. If you are not taking them to get high and you're not taking more then what is prescribed and you are taking them to solely control your pain so that you may have some quality of life then it doesn't sound like you are addicted to me. The fact that you are aware that it can happen is a good thing though.Stay aware,be honest with yourself always. Many of us started out depending on the pills for pain control and quality of life and before we knew it we were taking them for all the wrong reasons and because of that our quality of life was gone.Just be careful. All the best....Kim

If one or two is all you are up to ans a whole pill makes you high you are very very lucky, and blessed. I dont want to sound like it is ok to be addicted on pain meds and I know you dont like these pills and having to take them. Im in chronic pain and cannot live w/out the pills and cant live with the pills. They are addictive and I do wish you luck and hope you never get like most of us where we dont or didnt make a move w/out making sure we had a handful with us at all times. If I were you and you can keep yourself where you are at and it helps with pain take them but IF YOU FIND YOURSELF TAKING MORE AND MORE THEN STOP QUICK
