Death from Withdrawls

Does anyone know if it is possible to die from wd's? I heard that your heart can stop, convulsions, and all kinds of bad stuff can happen. I have been taking Hydrocodone, and Percocet for the past 4 years due to a back injury. I am for sure addicted. I take Hydrocodone 10/500. I take 4 at a time for the relief and high. I do this 3 times per day. I have tried many times to quit, but no success yet. I always go back when I feel as if I am going to die. I have never really given it a chance, and I am afraid that I will die due to the wd's. Could someone please help me with some information on the subject. I have truly hit rock bottom, and if I don't stop I am going to lose everything I have. Worst of all I am going to lose me. HELP!

I don't think you will die from withdrawals but you should try to taper in order to lessen the withdrawal effects and get some OTC meds to help with the flu symptoms.  Ask your doctor for a taper schedule and try to stick to it.  You may need to go to detox if you can't do it on your own.  Go to an NA meeting and you will find support and suggestions also.

Are you still getting these from your doctor?  Does he know you are addicted?  If he doesnt i would really talk with him.  He/she will be able to help too.       sara

WD'g off hydros doesnt usually cause death.  It is usually the benzos or tramadol that carry those warnings.  I would be more scared about continuing them than the wd.  Have you thought about tapering down?  That can ease the symptoms also.  Aftercare is very important also.  Look in the health pages and read up on the Thomas Recipe or the amino acid protocol.  Supplementing our bodies with something healthy helps too.  sara
