Help.....?

So for the past 3 years or so I have been taking different opiates for pain control (abdominal hernia and 5 herniated discs in my back).  For the past year and a half I've been taking OxyIR 30mg tabs.  When I started taking them I did just fine....I took them as prescribed and it helped my pain.  Now I am at the point where I can go through 90 pills in 3 days.  I don't do that regularly but I do go through my 'month' Rx in 10-15 days.  I take so much Advil & Aleve that I'm shocked I don't have an ulcer yet.  After my Rx runs out, I use 3-8 saved pills and tramadol to detox then wait to go see my doctor for another Rx.  I'm scared to talk to him about it.  I know I'm addicted to these damn pills physically, psychologically, and any other way you can be addicted to them.  I feel stuck and I don't really know what to do.  Stop the pills all together and be in pain or keep going through this cycle I've been doing for the past year?  Any thoughts?  I really need some help here.................. :-/

I definitely want help but I am so scared of never having pain relief.  For the 2 weeks I have no pills, I can barely do anything.  Just going to the grocery store is enough to put me on the couch for days.

Yes, because what do think happens when u adjust your dose? Your tolerance keeps going up. Your body will always crave more than it needs, and u keep feeding it, serious or fatal consequences will follow. Don't lie to yourself, seek help Lee. One day you'll be glad u did, I promise.

Is it silly for me to think that I've just built up a tolerance and need a dose adjustment?

Hi Lee and welcome. 1st off, u have to end this cycle, u already know how it ends I don't have to tell you. 2nd, don't be affraid to confide in your Dr, that's what he or she is there for. And they see these problems daily. Plus your privacy is protected under the Hippa laws. I quit a 5 year addiction cold turkey, but i don't have daily pains like you. They need to know so they can place u on the proper meds to help u recover. But 1st and foremost, you gotta have the will to commit to a full recovery. I believe you can, because you've already taken the 1st step by coming here and asking for help. Help is always all around you Lee, all u have to do is accept it.
Be strong, its a long and difficult, but necessary road to travel. You can do it.
