While getting off the morphine he will fill depressed..The alcohol is what concerns me.. as he really is not on that high of a dose to detox from.. not pleasant but manageable..
Drinking while detoxing is not recommended.. we do not know how much he drinks.. will he go into dts without drinking.. You might have to find a new Dr. to get this straightened out.. I would hate to recommend anything.. I do wish you well.. It sounds like you have stood by him for a long time.. fighting his demon.. You know him best.. If I can help in anyway I will try.. take care.. lesa
He already went to detox for the alcohol ... in fact many many times, In fact this last time he was sent to the hospital instead, which has also happend before. The doctors there did not want him to stay on morphine as he already has a problem with alcohol. But when he got out of this hopsital and went back to see his doctor , he put him right back on the morphine. The main thing i am concerned about at this time is not only that he is trying to stop this morphine by himself but now he is getting so depressed, Will this all go away with time and what will he probably go thru getting off this?
he is goin to go thru withdraws as he runs out of the meds. you can help him, but if he is detoxing off of alcohol as well you need to be carefull. alcohol withdraws, know as the dt's , can kill you. Is your husband ready to quit drinking and drugging, or jus kicking the pills? a detox center could be beneficial, as they would monitor his vitals every 2 hours and give him supplements that will help him thru. He may no quit drinking, but at least he would be under medical care while going thru the pill withdraw.
also, ya may wanna check into a new doctor. If he knows your hubby is an alcoholic he should be extremely carefull giving out any addictive substance, specially morphine!!
My doc knows I am a coke addict, she won hardly give me an 800 mg advil without a speech LOL. best of luck to you n ya man
