Hi. I'm new to the forum and interested in how others dealt with things...

I'm a recovering opiate addict. I've been clean for 5+ yrs with the help of Suboxone. (been off Suboxone for 2 yrs)  I know that there are many people that believe Suboxone is a negative drug but for me it was a good thing.

The thing I have noticed after stopping opiates is how much more difficult it is for me to meet friends or socialize. I never knew I had any social awkward feelings before using but now I realize I have many.  I'm curious how others have dealt with these new vulnerabilities....

Thank you... I'm laughing at your non butterfly-ness!! I am hoping that as more time goes by and more experiences I have under my belt that it will become 2nd nature again. I agree with you that if you have to alter your mind that it's not worth it though. I appreciate your input!!

This is a great question.
The truth is for me I did notice how easy it was for me to be more social when I was using opiates(at first).
I guess the conclusion that I have come to is,if I have to alter my mind and become a different person in order to be social,is it really worth that for me.
Some of us are just not social butterflies and I am one of those non-butterflies I guess. I am trying to just become more ok with who I actually am and not trying to wish I were different or greater than what I am if that makes any sense.Anyway great job on all of that sober time!!
