Day 14 and made a meeting tonight

Hi everyone! It been an entire two weeks since I went cold turkey off opiates. :) I can't believe I have gotten to two weeks. I'm still struggling with the restlessness and not sleeping well. I am combatting it with magnesium, potassium, and melatonin. I'm pretty sure my brain is still too far gone for the melatonin to work properly, but I think it's healing everyday. Tonight at my meeting I prayed for the addict that will die today. What a concept. I know I am alive because one of those addicts prayed for me before I stopped this mess.

I want to understand more what is happening with my brain and body right now and in the coming days of recovery. If anyone has any info, or links to anything, please let me know. You can find all kinds of info on what happens day by day when you quit smoking, there has to be something for opiate addicts too. Thanks to you all for your continued support as I keep on moving forward.

And one more thing: my husband and I are like kids again! After being on the brink of separation, we have reconnected and talk and cuddle and it's wonderful to be able to not only listen to him, but to feel what he says. The emotion in his voice when he says he is proud of me makes me want to go another day, week, lifetime clean. Thanks guys!

Wow, look at you kicking opiates a$$!  Congratulations!  You sound great!  What an awesome idea to pray for the addict that will die today. I am going to have to start doing that. It is amazing when we get our feelings and emotions back. I was amazed at the love and happiness that I was blocking out with my pills. I agree with Rosy on this one...Vicourageous has lots of very good info in her journal. I was blown away with all the stuff I never knew. Keep up the hard work.

Way yo go. I was close to suicide when God got me here. I didn't realize I was going thru WD. All I had to do was get here and with this support I felt brain change. Also like you I Didnt think hubby would give me support boy was I wrong. For this I'm so grateful. Also scared but will continue this fight.

Congrats on 14 days... I'm like you, I wanted to get into the science of everything as well.. Since this disease.. Fueled by prescription pain killers is running through this country like crazy you can just google a tremendous amount of information -- I came across a fellow addict who has posted a ton of stuff on addiction on YouTube, a blog, and etc.. His name is Ryan Donnelly and he explains the science and etc, in a very simplistic way.. Google his blog online it's called "Free from hell.com" congrats again and keep it up

Thanks to you all for your kind words! You all mean the world to me. I no longer feel as though I stumbled across this site. Whe I found it I was searching for anyone that could understand what I was going through. I know now my god was directing me to you guys, as well as directing me on a straight path back to my husband. I took some excedrin pm tonight as well as my magnesium and potassium. While I don't like taking chemical sleep aids I had a headache that wouldn't quit. I am hoping for a night of no restlessness in the arms and a full, restful sleep. If not, then I am hoping for the strength to get through the night. Please pray for strength for me if you can. Thanks to you all.
