Hi and welcome . . . and congratulations on your decision to quit the pills - you will never regret this. The worst of the w/d usually lasts about 5 to 7 days with the worst at about day 2 to 3 (everyone is different, so it could be a bit more or less either way). Check out the Thomas Recipe (link on the bottom right of this page) for some suggestions of things to help get you through the detox stage. The diarrhea and leg cramps are real common symptoms. Try Immodium - helps SO much, and a hot tub soak w/Epsom salts will help relax you a bit and help with the leg cramping. Magnesium tablets helped me a lot with the restless feeling and even with sleep. You really need to keep yourself hydrated and eat (even protein drinks if you don't feel like food). Vitamin Water Revive was a great help to me in those first few days - full of B's, C, potassium and electrolytes. It is not fun, but it is temporary - you can get through this. And trust me - nipping the habit now while you are young is the right thing to do. I lost almost 15 years to pills - and it happened before I ever knew what hit me. Stay close to this site, there are lots of people who have been through this or are doing it now. It is a little slow today; but you will get more feedback. Keep posting with any questions you have. Hang in there....it will get better!
Hey congrats on wanting to quit and going for it but please do this for yourself you wont be the same person you are under the pills but most become happer with time as for a time line usually a 4to5 day deal to kick for the phyical part then another mo of broken sleep anxzity and other boothesome things but withhelp here and later some meetings with N/A can at least put it in remition it not the end but only beggining to your new life keep posting for support.............Gnarly
Thanks! Yeah I have some Imodium and I tried exercising to relieve the leg pain and so far it's helped a little bit. But thank you so much for your feedback and have a great day!
Congrats on deciding to quit before your situation got a lot worse like me and many others on here but first thing first here is even tho you are on a low dose if you don't want to quit like u said and are just stopping for her it will be almost impossible because as me and many others on here will tell you and anyone else trying to quit for someone else and not for yourself just doesnt work not your mom dad girlfriend grandma or whoever wants u to quit if your number 1 doesn't want to quit then you won't quit
I'm here with you brother...almost the same age as well and we started the same time...basically 2010...been hell since..but thing's looking better for me right now I hope thing's will look up for you keep youre head up it's hard bro really hard change ur number I changed my number. so noone can call you long run will help and won't worry about it. I repeat it I use to hate vicodin use to make me throw up doc's use to prescribe when I was younger little younger I didn't even take it I just told my mom put it away just in case someone in the house really have pain. I wish I've never touched it seriously it brought nothing but money thrown away and what not.
Taper down each cpl days and wds should be light take one less pill a day for two days n continue till u take none if you feel bad bad where u feel like you wanna die which I doubt take another half but it shouldn't be that bad taperings the key but id advise to ask your doc to taper u to watch u professionally
Id also advise u that if your doing it for her u probably won't succeed you have to want it for yourself before its successful and who knows u may not wd at all but sniffles tramadol helps but take 2 at a time no more and don't take more then 6 a day or ull be addicted to those
