Hydo..help

HELP.....I am addicted to pain killers..Hydrocodone. I always got them from one doctor so I did not look for them on the streets but I am almost to that point now. I ran out of my RX too early. Almost kind of begged the doc for RX of something else just not to get w/t. I was taking 8 10/325 a day. I know so bad. I do have legitimate pain and that is also scaring me. I do want to get off these things. I hate being strapped to a bottle. I travel a lot and was always afraid of running out in a foreign country. I hate the withdrawls. Last night was the first night without a good night pill and I sweated and did not sleep well at all. Up at 5:30amI have a handicapped daughter that I take care of and another daughter. I do not want to be grumpy around them.  I think I might be freaking out a bit.

Thanks for any advice...

Hi..Milestone, I went to set up the auction and was actually friendly. Although not to talokative but I did get through it. But the original reason I was taking the pills was because of my back so that bothered me A LOT. But I tredged through it. Got home and started thinking about the meds... When will the cravings go away? And what do should I use for my back. I have a form of Scoleosis. I know nobody has all the answers to these questions more or less venting.

I thank all of you who have written and given me support. I truly need the encouragement. Although my hubby is supportive he has really has NO clue. He is self disciplined which actually I thought I was untilo a bad surgery a couple of years ago that aggrevated the back problem.

Anyway  Thanks

I have lowered myself to 3 starting yesturday. feeling like crude. have the shakes really bad, my heart is racing, every part of my body aches like i have the flu really bad, at night its like i have restles leg syndrome but in my whole body, if i move my head to qwik i get dizzy, i'm either freezing or sweating. I don't feel like doing anything or going any where. I'm already on paxil for anxiety and depression. this *****, someone PLEASE help, don't want to be on this anymore, was put on it because of a back injury, I would much rather deal with the pain then this stuff, problem is my will power *****. I'm a personal trainer and cant even get motivated to workout myself. I do take a multi-vit, iron, calcium, and a couple other herbal supplements, as well as some other prescription meds.

J.~  Yes, the amt. of L-tyrosine was designed to only be taken in the am before breakfast.  If you've never taken it you may have to play with the dose depending on how you feel. It gives you a surge of energy but can make you jittery depending on how YOU metabolize it.  That's why it's not taken later in the day. It can cause insomnia.  Also, not good to take it if you take antidepressants...
The Thomas Recipe is very good...perfected by Thomas who struggled with addiction most of his life...follow it closely.

Yes, it's normal to feel like one pill will make it all better  :)   But, it's a mental thing...
that's the trick our brains play on us. Forget it!  Don't think of it. Actually, the auction will probably be great for you...very distracting.

Good luck Sweetie...you can do this!  It's VERY important to get food in to your body. I can't stress that enough.  And...FORCE FLUIDS!

On the Thomas Recipe do you know if you only take the L-tyrosine one time a day? In the morning. I did not know if you could take it again toward the afternoon again, if you were feeling a bit down?

Thanks

Thanks for more helpful advice. I know I have to get out of the house and get my mind off this I just can not seem to get my butt up. I will have to in a little while and go set up for this big auction. I can not imagine being around a bunch of people. Maybe it will be good to have to put on a game face?!
I have some shakes from inside my body and my skin feels prickly. This is all yukky a technical term I am sure.

Thanks for letting me write and just tell someone what I am going through without any judgements. And yes. I do call myself strong. I lift a wheelchair and handle my daughtr daily. She is strong. I need to follow her strength. Mymind just does not seem to be able to get around the thought of just one pill will take all this away. Is that how everybody feels? Has to, right?

I seriously feel for you. The wd's suck, but in the end they are worth it. Listen to Vicki about the vitamins and the sleep aid supplements. Eat lots of bananas or take potassium supplements for the leg cramps. Do some walking, maybe some squats. Don't let the rigamortis set in. You need to eat though, even if it's just toast. You have to have your strength, There is alot of help here. For every symptom, someone will have some advice. That's the easy part, what you do with it is completely in you hands. I don't know you, but I have to go on a limb and assume that because you are raising a handicapped daughter... you are a very very strong woman. You can do this. I wish you and your family all the best. Remember, we are all here for you.

Not eating is very normal. You need to try to keep some food in you. Try and eat 6 small meals a day. If you can't do this, try and eat some toast or soup. But make sure you are keeping hydrated. The more water you drink, the better. It will flush your system. Hopefully soon you will get your appetite back. It may take a few days though.
Best of luck to you!

Well..you'll need the nausea med.  Melatonin or Benadryl for sleep can help.  Yes...Saturday may not be very good but we're all different...so let's wait and see...

Good for you to jump now!

yes...i want to quit..but I have to admit the way I feel now makes me want to fill that Rx when I can. But NO I really do want to quit. I hate this feeling and I just told my husband that I was addicted and was trying to detox now. Right now my kids are with their father/my ex. But I have a big auction I am charge of on Sat. Does not sound to good for me, huh.

Thanks for posting and thanks for the help.I have a feeling I am going to need it. How do you sleep? and cramps and I do not think this is the worst of it. I called my doc and really kind of asked him for help with the detox symptoms and the only thing he would call in is nausea meds. great help there...

Okay...You're withdrawing now,it sounds like.  You'll need to beef up on vitamins, otc's for G.I. issues and insomnia. The best thing to do is read the Thomas Recipe on the health pages(upper right corner of page).  That will tell you everything.  Are you wanting to seriously stop now? Just waiting for your refill?   Just wondering...May I suggest just do it now?   You may need someone to come help at home...

Drink a lot of fluids;flush your system out...cranberry juice is great for this...

Keep posting~ lots of help here but you have to do the work  :)
