I Have A Problem . . .

In January my Dad passed away...and from that point on I went into a deep depression and my stress levels have been through the roof... I began to abuse narcotics...loritabs/percocets/soma/roxycodone/oxycontin...pretty much anything I could get my hands on to numb the emotional pain I was feeling. I have been able to get off of every one except for the roxycodone. I am taking the 30mg dosage about 3 times a day..but the thing is that I am not taking them orally..I am getting the high by snorting them up my nose. There came only one day that I had to do without them and half way through the day I started to experiene withdrawl symptoms...cold sweats...rapid heart-beat...shallow breathing..and severe weakness. I want to quit everything for good..but what is the best way to do that??? Can I do it cold turkey??? Or is that very dangerous like I hear?? Can I get a perscription to keep me from withdrawling?? I need advice soon..I really need help and I can't afford to take any more time off work because of how sick I have been off and on this year. What is the best way to cure my problem and be able to funtion at work as well??

Try to find a Sub doctor, im sure that someone will be along to tell you more about it ! seems that it takes the WD away! thats a great thing when you are so sick!  I would recomend that you taper! take a little away till you are at a very small dose then the WD's wont be as bad!!!

I agree with Zurich. Taper off with someone else giving you the doses. You are on a fairly healthy dose. 30 mg Roxy=27mg  oxycodone hydrochloride That is like taking 4 - 7.5mg  vicodins 3 x a day without the Tylenol that is in vics. Take a couple of weeks or more of tapering. Let your body adjust, then you can quit.

My DOC was Vicodin/Hydrocodone 5/500 mg - about 10-12 tablets a day.  Going cold turkey was not the 'way' for me to go - thus, I went on a tapering regiment over 2 weeks.  The physical withdrawals hit around Day 3 & 4 and the mental withdrawals hit around Day 5 & 6.  I am now on my 19th day of sobriety.
A lot of folks suggest SubOxone - however, I've also read that withdrawling from that also has it's own problems.  Perhaps your best method would be to talk to your doctor immediately about your abuse.  Believe me - I work in healthcare - they HAVE heard it all before.  This is NOTHING new to them.  Perhaps your doctor can prescribe a decent tapering regime (with 'just enough' pills that you can hand to someone you trust - and make them promise not to give you any more than what your 'days' allowance is).  As for withdrawal symptoms - I used Advil (for the headaches and aches/pains), Immodium AD (for the bathroom trips) and Benadryl to help sleep (although taking too much Benadryl also gave me restless leg syndrome).  It was tough - but I made it through with the help of this forum.  Also - check out the 'Thomas Recipe' - there are some vitamins that can help a great deal.  Good luck to you - you're on the right path.  Continue to post on the forum - you're not alone through this.  :-)

When I was trying to quit last summer, my boyfriend and I broke up. I know sounds dumb, but it was tramatic and i was severly depressed about the whole thing. My doctor put me on Cymbalta and in a couple of weeks I felt great. I was also taking more pain meds to help with the depression which is BAD. After the Cymbalta kicked in I went back to weaning. I'm clean now and am going to wean off the Cymbalta over the next 2 months.
Wish you the best
