I already quit, should i still tell my doc?

I had been using pain pills (mostly percocet) through most of my pregnancy. the most i took in a day was about 40mg. i managed to taper off of them and quit  completley @ 35 weeks with very little w/d. I was afraid to tell my doc because i didnt want them to try to put me on methadone, or tell me not to quit, because i dont want my baby to be born with withdrawls. but i dont know if i quit soon enough to avoid that, does anyone have any advice?

hello again, just thought i would give an update. I had my baby aug 11, she is perfect, no signs of any problems. they did drug test me at the hospital, i was clean and thankfully my baby was very healthy so no one gave me any problems.Im glad i told my doc the truth, because if there was any problems i might have got dcf on my ***, which is not an easy way to start life with a new baby. right now i just feel very blessed to have such a beautiful baby, we both got to go home 2 days later. thanks for the support.

well, i did give my doc the letter yesterday. He was very nice about it. He said I was already ahead of the gang for telling him that. He said there has been so many babies born recentley addicted to some pain killer, 4 in less than a week. The moms werent worried about taking pills and never stopped, they had to leave the hospital without their babies, how sad. He recomended not to take anything 2 weeks prior to delivery to avoid w/d in baby. they did decided to induce labor next week, they think my baby is small, healthy but small. He reasured me that pills did not contribute to her small size, more likley smoking earlier in pregnancy, or my placenta is not functioning properly. So next week I'll be clean 3.5 weeks.and i am nervous about  them giving me a script for pain  after i have the baby.

PLEASE tell your dr. It is important for them tho know just in case there are problems when the baby is born. A good dr will help you and be understanding. Dont be afraid ... you can do it.

Trust me, I did too...i chickened out and sent an email to my doctor...he called me yesterday and WAS SO UNDERSTANDING and happy/proud that I was able to understand I had/have a problem and i'm working on fixing it...telling him will also help you in the future so you wont relapse and him knowing you're addiction will be in the back of his mind...

Congrats on the baby and on you quitting!!! be very proud of yourself!

I think it's important you share the info with your doctor, they can't "force" you on anything...
