New here......been watching for a while now and just wanted to say hello. My husband and I both are addicted to hydro. I've found a Dr. in my area who offers the suboxone treatment and I'm going to call and get an appt. Been on hydro since April 2005 from a back injury. Still have the back injury but "use" the pills just to get me through the day. So tired of this cycle, just want to be me again and not feel like I need chemicals to do that!!! I told my husband a while ago that we had matching tattoo's on our brains and he just looked at me like I had lost it......then I told him they said HYDRO and he understood. It's amazing how a little B**** named WATSON can run your life.

It's amazing to me to have soooo many people with the same problem.......I'm glad to be here. Thank you all for your support. Money wise I can afford the pills, it's my health and my future that are suffering the most. My husband and I both want a child and that is NOT an option til the pain pills are behind us. Alot of my friends use pills also and none of them have a clue how bad my problem is. They know my husband is bad on them cause he's been on them for 10+ years off and on. They look at me and think that I just take them for my back pain and that I'm not someone who could become addicted, yeah right!!!!! A friend of mine sells his script to me really cheap because he doesn't want to become addicted to them even though he is diabled and in pain. I can't wait for the day when someone asks me if I want to do a pill and I reply " NO THANKS I DON"T USE THEM ANYMORE, I'M CLEAN!!!!!!!!!"

In Canada, or at least where I live in Canada an 80 mg oxy costs between $22-$25.  I spend about $100.00 a day.
I've had to change my plan a little, because of some prior commitments but with the help of some awesome people on here, a plan has been formulate and I'm starting next Tuesday.  Being from Canada, I don't have the help of suboxone, or a lot of the ingredients from the Thomas Recipe. Thank goodness I've met someone that has offered to send me some ltyrosine, someone that has never met me and only talked to me online a few times.  That's the kindof help that you are going to get here so stick around. Come back every day, every hour if you have too, someone will be here.

I bought alot of $8 hydros in Charleston.  I would quit and relapse, quit and relapse, 25, 30, 45 days here and there.  Once I seriously thought it was ALL in my past - I was on Day-58 and I was feeling GOOD.  That afternoon I got a call from a guy who was a friend of a guy that I used to buy from once in a while.  He asked if I'd be interested in 90 10's.  Without hesitation I told him "no thanks."  Turns out he was scared to death of the whole idea of selling them in the first place and I was basically his only option to turn these pills into the cash he needed.  He said "are you sure?  I'd let them go for $3 apiece."

Now that was clearly too good a deal to pass up.  I figured I pretty much had to do the 90 -- besides, the main problem (as I saw it at that moment) was all the money I had been spending and this wasn't really that much . . . .  Of course, you know what happened - before that 90 was gone I was looking for the next 90, the next 120, etc.  

I didn't have ANY further clean time until I had pretty much destroyed my family, my health, my career, my reputation, etc. and was shipped off to my first rehab about a year and a half later (maybe longer - events from that period sort of blur together).  Actually, I could figure that out - the guy who sold me that 90 was really selling them for his friend, who was even more afraid of the whole thing.  The friend ended up selling me both of his scripts each month, one for 90 and the other for 120 and I would actually write him checks for them.  It didn't take long before that total of 210 tabs only lasted 5 to 6 days . . .  I kept getting AMAZING prices for his pills, but I had to pay full fare for the rest of the month.  

I very glad that I don't have to live like that anymore.

Trust me I know.....I have tons of friends on them and my husband was addicted to them for about a year before we got together. He is totally against them. We've done a few here and there but where I'm from a oxy 80 is $80-$100. Not worth that to me. the hydro are not worth the $8 I pay for a 10/500 either. I'm just wasting money and ruining my health...thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks!!!!! It is just so much easier said than done. I know the feeling.....looking for pills, especially counting pills and feeling like ****. if I don't have some. I have a high tolerance for pain so why do I even bother with the pills???...that's what I ask myself. I'm very glad I found this forum.

whatever you do, do not take oxys.  You think your addiction to hydros is bad, if you get in to oxys it will be 10 times worse and the withdrawal is worse.  I've tried to withdraw for oxys several times now and it's just so painful. With the help of people on here, I've now got a plan.  Stick around and listen to what everyone here has to say.  You can beat this, but you'll need all the help you can get.

you can do this if you really want to. I'm on day 14 and feeling sooo much better. Was doing Vics & Percs for about 3 1/2 years. Went cold turkey, and glad I did. I'm done with pills, looking for pills, counting pills and feeling like **** if I didn't have pills. And my real pain is not nearly as bad as I thought it was, it was the pills!  Really hope you can do it. Keep coming back here, every day. We all will help you thru it. Good luck.

Thanks!! I've wanted to quit for a while but could never find the strength.....told a friend yesterday that I hurt when i take the pain pills and I hurt when I don't, so what's the sense. He told to take an Oxy it would help my pain.....I don't want to trade one addiction for another........I want to be total FREE.

hi and welcome!!!  Good for you wanting to get yourself off the hydro's!  i've been on suboxone since april and it has helped me sooooo much ... Just remember to be honest w/the dr about everything...how much you take and for how long .. don't leave anything out .. they will tell you have to be in w/d in order to start the treatment ... i was told not to take any opiates at least 12-15 hrs of my appt .. wow, what a difference that day after taking them .. felt like a whole new person ... actually the next day since my dose wasn't right, i ended up at 24mg and i'm at 20mg right now .. i see my dr tomorrow and may go down another 4mgs ..we'll see ... anyways, i want to wish you and your husband the best of luck!!!  i'll tell ya, you'll both wake up a couple of days after being on it and be like, who are you ... you feel normal .. and i hadn't felt normal in years .. its just a great feeling ... anyhoo!!! keep us posted if you see a dr ...
