Does anyone know if its common for suboxon to have me restless at night time? Dutchess? Are you still out here? If so I'd like to introduce myself to you. I'm Cathy and i enjoy reading the advice you give.

Hey Cathy! I's nice to meet you (or talk to you) whichever you prefer ;) I'm starting to fall asleep but have you just recently started suboxone? Since subutex (buprenorphine) is a partial agonist and partial antagonist itself , it will still cause withdrawals if you start it before you have withdrawn from opiates. Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone) will cause more severe withdrawals usually. Since naloxone is a pure antagonist it will block the effects of any opiates in your system and since opiates are very highly lipophilic (nice fancy way of saying they love fat cells and will store themselves in fat cells) you probably still have opiates being released into your system from fat cells and certain other tissues that the suboxone is blocking making w/d slightly different than even going cold turkey.

I'm right here with ya,lonote. I had no sleep either last night. I took a Valium
to no avail. I just don't understand why it didn't help me sleep. I took 1 every
night for the last 3 days and it actually made me sleep for most of the night.
I'm on day 10 of a cold turkey meth withdrawl, which is getting better as the
days and nights go by. After about 7 days of massive tremors and insomnia,
I had to fly up to my PM Dr. to get a small script for valium and my usual
pain meds, but not the Methadone.Youl'll defineately need a Benzo like Xaxax
or Valium if you want any type of descent sleep.I don't know what your history is,but just rememmber, there is always someone here for you,24/7,if you need
help or are going nuts from withdrawls. Hang in there.

Sorry you could not sleep, I hope as I am typing this you are getting some rest. I really didn't have a real bad problem with sleeping during this time of w/d. The 3rd-6th nights were a little bit tuff. I take dramamine, benadryl and tylenol pm. I do not take them all together, LOL. The dramanine works the best for me but it makes me a little groggy in the morning. I tried valium in the beginning and it really did not work very well.

Hug to ya,
Tim

Benzos are often very helpful in opiate withdrawal but benzos you cannot quit c/t so that's a tapering process. That's why a lot of detox centers are using clonidine to help withdrawals now. The Valium probably didn't help b/c either benzos won't help you in opiate w/d or b/c you weren't taking a large enough dose. It is also possible that xanax will work better for you, xnanx is typically the benzo of choice during opiate w/d. Benzo's never helped if I was in w/d, it's not really common but it happens. All you can hope for is a little relief from some symptoms if you go c/t, your body is having those symptoms b/c it's not getting endorphins and it's not producing endorphins on its own anymore. You won't get any endorphin increase from benzos, sleeping pills, NSAID's or any other anti depressants or meds to help with w/d so the symptoms won't completely dissappear. The only way to increase your endorphins is with opiates. There are a lot of things you can do to stimulate endorphin production in your body like running, laughing, even listening to certain music that brings back memories. Endorphins are your body's natural pain relievers so any type of pain is going to stmulate the production of endorphins (I'm not saying anyone should cut themselves or hurt themselves in an inappropriate manner- no I shouldn't have to say that but you would be very suprised!) Any type of cardiac exercise will stimulate endorphin production just don't expect too much too fast, you have a lot more opiate receptors throughout your cardiopulmonary system, your digestive tract, your brain, and spinal cord so a normal amount of endorphins will still leave you in mild withdrawal. Your body has to learn not only to produce endorphins again but also how to regulate them and in what amount. RLS is a very common misconception and misdiagnosis in w/d, it feels like RLS but it's usually not. You are restless and in pain b/c your brain, intestinal tract, heart, lungs, and spinal cord, have been literally shocked by being deprived of a crucial neurotransmitter without warning and is trying to correct itself. It will take time, even if it's not actually RLS does not mean that RLS meds like the over the counter highlands won't help the symptoms. A lot of people in the forum use this and have great success with it.

lonote, since you are on suboxone, your body is going to experience w/d but suboxone is a partial agonist so it is still producing endorphins so your body can slowly correct itself and adjust. This is much safer on your body.
