You have said you have tried a couple times before to clean up but have relapsed......what are you willing to do differently this time??  Getting clean is the easy part, staying clean is the hard part.  Have you thought about any type of aftercare?  It is really important for the success in our recovery.  We have to face those demons and find out what makes us want to numb ourselves.  Keep posting        sara

You know, really after they are over, you look back and think"I wasted all that time using in fear of going through that?" I am not saying they are not bad, but i do not think the are as bad as people "plan" for them to be. First 3 or 4 days are the worse, after that they start to get better. Its like haveing the flu, tell yourself you have the flu...taking a narcotic is not going to get you over the flu just as taking a narcotic is not going to get you over this. Just do it, get it over with, start living life. Life is great on the other side

its so hard to start out not thinking the worst when i know the worst is about to come. but im going to try my hardest to be as positive as possible. it just seem ironic to put a smile on my face at a time like this. i was in pretty deep. i took alot of pills everyday and ive done the cold turkey thing before but have failed everytime. ive used suboxone and eventually failed from that. its hard when i feel like im setting myself up for failure. i have to find a way around those negative thoughts and im hoping that will be this website.

honestly though physically im really not that bad ive been worse before but mentally im a mess. im just fighting the demons in my head now and to me this is almost worse than the physical symptoms of withdraws. at least for that theres some meds to help out a little bit. i hope that when im at your stage in recovery ill be doing just as good as you! if you dont mind me asking,...what did you used to take and how much?

as for nessa ill be keeping an eye on her for all of us!

Hey belle.  Try not to start your detox expecting the worst.  Take it as it comes.  If you expect to be miserable, you will be.  This will not be easy, but there are times of stability and even great relief.  Everyone is different.  I bet it won't be so bad.

Think positive!  Follow the suggestions of these wonderful peeps to manage individual problems as they arise.

Keep an eye on Ness, cause I'll have to take out a kneecap if she falls off the wagon!

Thanks so much it means alot to have people around to help me get through this hard time in my life. When i first quit taking pills i  cant usually take any sleep aid cause it makes me feel  like i have shortness of breath and it seems to intensify my RLS its weird but it does. Has that ever happened to you? i feel like i have to keep stretching my muscles in my whole body all night. there have been times i wake up black and blue from bruises from me hitting myself becase it almost makes it feel better.

When I stopped cold after 3months of percocet from surgery, Xanax took the edge off a little but it was great for sleep. 1st night had to take 4- .5mg tabs, 2nd night 3 of them, then 2, then one and 5th night I slept fine without them. I think xanax might calm you some and give you a little relief. There are lots of people here pulling for you so let that give you some peace also....
