I have had 10 surgerys on my left knee, 3 this year I've been taking 120 PERCOCET 10/325MG a month and 90 ROXICODONE 30MG EVERY 25 DAYS for the past 10 months I stoped Cold Turkey 4 days ago and talked to my doctors about it and WOW I was told we can't help you get off them you have to go to a hospital or O/P program problem is not one of the doctors take my Ins. and I don't have the money to pay for help .  so I'm going through hell now but I did get my one doctor to call in something called CLONIDINE HCL 0.1 MG (1) 2 TIMES A DAY
Can anyone tell me if this will help I took my first one and it's been about 4hrs.not sure I feel much of anything other then sleepy .

Please if anyone can help me I'm 53 never had a addiction problem but now I think I can understand what others go through .

Hi there! I just wanted to add my two cents to this. Congrats on your successful withdrawal, you are doing awesome! About the clonidine, my doctor gave me some and it does help me. My turn is coming up soon, I have been tapering off methadone and I am down to 15mgs and I too will soon need the support of this awesome group. Take care, I am really happy for you!

What a delight you are!!  And such a sweet spirit!

I'm glad you found this forum.  It is a great place to share and learn and grow.
I didn't find it until about 60 days clean.....you are WAY ahead of where I was at 6 days!  And Happy 6 Days to you!!

It IS possible to live life with pain......without pain pills.  Many of us on here are learning to do just that!  Lots and lots of us became addicted due to
surgeries, medical problems, pain....you should feel right at home.:)

You are really receptive and it shows!

Blessings~

I promise you what you're feeling right now is totally normal and to be expected during withdrawal.  It's a miserable time, I know.  But remember, it IS temporary.  Good luck to you and welcome!!

I found that vitamins, minerals, and amino acids helped a lot. Your brain chemistry is healing and needs a lot of nutrient to do the work. And you already know about the exercise. I was taking a lot of vitamins and still peeing clear. My body was soaking them up. You'll be feeling much better real soon. Prescription addiction is the biggest drug problem in the world, other than alcohol. There are more pill addicts than cocaine, heroine, and amphetamines combined. Glad you realized your situation and are here with us. Keep us posted.

The medication your Dr gave you does help with some of the w/d symptoms, but it made me very sleepy too.   This time I did it without any prescribed meds.   I don't think there is an easy way out of this, but anyway that can ease it, I'm all for!

Like the others have said, the worst should be behind you now.   Staying focused on how far you have come, keeping active as much as your body will let you, eating, fluids, all excellent advice!

It is sad that so many people go through this without any fault of their own.  They get a scrip, develop a tolerance, need more, then are suddenly labeled addicts or abusers and left to their own devices.  It's a progressive disease.   Once it has started, it's always there, so be careful that in the future if prescribed something, because it will pick up where you left off, from someone who has been there, done that.

Keep us posted on how you are doing!

I am so happy I came here you all have been so good in helping me through this. I'm on day 5 now was feeling good this morning and then around noon I crashed. But your right being active is helping along with alot of ice water each day seems to be getting better thank you so much for your support you guys are great.

The one thing I never knew was how many people are out there going through the samething with very little help it's sad.

I wish you well and I will be keeping you all up-dated on how I'm doing ! Good Night

Hi kneesurgery, and welcome! I am very similar to you. I am also 53, had knee surgery (and shoulder surgery). I was taking similar meds! When I quit I was going through 120 Roxicodones, 30 mg in about 2-3 weeks! That's too bad about your doctor, mine was very supportive!

At 4 days with no meds, I agree you should be nearly through with the worst of the physical symptoms. I never took the Clonidine, but many people say it does help! For me, exercise really helped. Short walks outside in the fresh air, staying well hydrated, and drinking Ensure or Boost to stay nourished.

Please keep posting with any questions or if you need support! Take care, and I wish you the very best!

Hi,

Clonidine is a blood pressure medication and can help with that during detox. Many members say it helps with other symptoms of detox. It did not help me but don't go by that.

Four days is great and actually you are already through the worst of it. The next few days may be a bit uncomfortable but it is doable. Stick with it.

Try warm baths and if you can exercise it will help greatly. Also push fluids and be sure to eat and keep your strength up. Hang in there, it is almost over. Glad you found your way here.
