by plymouthgirl, Apr 24, 2008 09:52AM
I know I posted about this before last week or so,But I am gaining weight lol, since I have been clean 24 days today!! I can't seem to stop eating.I am hungry all the time.I go for walks all the time and I try to keep busy so I don't think about food. The only really good thing is I don't think about or crave pills but I do food..Am I the only one or is this normal?

I can relate and I think it is pretty normal!!

I tapered off vics and never lost my appetite. In fact, all I did was EAT for 6 weeks straight...one week i ate 5 pints of hagen dazs..LOL..Of course, I gained like  6 #, now i am taking it off. After a while...it leveled out for me....

It's a good thing I continued to work out that time...YIKES!!     :D

lol, since coming off my doc i have gained 34lb, i did need it as the 'H' made me loose so much weight (the smack-fast diet), i was a walking skeleton. I cant remember when the urges of eating calmed down but they did eventually calm. Now i eat 'normally' (well...........chocolate is a different story, lol) I personally think this is normal, you eat up, lol.
Take care

My baby's daddy that is in rehab was having the same problem and he is now beginning to level out.  His doctor explained that the part of your brain that gives you hunger a lot of times does not get used while you are using so it goes into overdrive when you first get clean.

Really I was complete opposite I was always hungry on the pills when I was using my stomach always felt empty been 5 weeks clean and lost 13 lbs not hungry at all I wonder if its all mental for me when I was taking all the pills I felt so out of control now Im starting to feel in control again, but of course i did suffer from eating disorders all my life!!!!!!

I deliberately kept my stomach empty on the Vic's so that they would kick-in sooner.

I kept my stomach empty also and just ate enough food to survive.  I haven't gained any back and hope that I don't.  I'm 5'9" and 135 lbs now and love it.

Since getting off methadone I to have had more of a desire to eat, but I try to make healthy choices & several small meals thru the day, but I dont go to far, yesterday I had a piece of pizza, 1 piece only! I am very petite so 5-2 115, & wish to stay this way, as when I was using oxicotin I found myself very unhealthy,150 pounds, so try to make the right choices & be happy for being clean! Penelope
